On the morning of January 3, Saigon University announced a resolution to establish the Institute of Socio-Economic Research. The former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is the Chairman of the Scientific Council.

The Institute of Socio-Economic Research of Saigon University is a scientific and technological organization with legal status, its own seal and account, operating under a financial autonomy mechanism.

The Institute was established on the basis of reorganizing the Institute of Environmental Technology - Energy of Saigon University, while adding functions and tasks of socio-economic research, data science and artificial intelligence.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Chi Lan - Vice Principal of Saigon University - holds the position of Director. The Institute's Scientific Council consists of 9 members. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, is Chairman of the Scientific Council.

The remaining members include Prof. Dr. Mai Hong Quy, former principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - editor-in-chief of Asian Economic and Business Research Magazine (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hoang Quan - principal of Saigon University, journalist Pham Duc Hai...

Speaking at the founding ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan said that with the potential of a team of excellent researchers and cooperation from related parties, the Institute of Socio-Economic Research of Saigon University will create breakthrough research and practical applications in all aspects of life.

"I really hope that the Institute of Socio-Economic Research will soon become the core in multi-disciplinary and multi-field research and application development, actively contributing to raising the position of Saigon University, becoming a research-oriented university and meeting international standards" - Mr. Quan stated the development goals of the institute in the coming time.

Also at the ceremony announcing the establishment resolution, the institute signed a memorandum of understanding with 8 units to establish an ecosystem closely linking theory and practice, solving urgent socio-economic issues of Vietnam in the digital age.

Scientific research, consulting, training

The Institute of Socio-Economic Research of Saigon University will carry out many activities related to research, consultancy and training.

For example, organizing scientific research activities, providing services and scientific and technological solutions in the fields of economics, finance, currency, banking, education, environment, law, and socio-culture. Researching the application of economic management, tax policy, finance, market prices, human resource development policy, domestic and international investment resources.

Providing consulting services: business management consulting; investment and trade project consulting; education - training and human resource development consulting; legal, economic, social, environmental and media policy consulting,...

Organize and implement training programs and knowledge and skills development, short-term and long-term professional and career improvement training programs according to the requirements of businesses and organizations.

Organize scientific forums, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Cooperate with domestic and international organizations to solve socio-economic issues.
