President Putin and his crew made a short flight on a Tu-160 strategic bomber.
Russian media footage showed President Vladimir Putin boarding a Tu-160 strategic bomber at the Kazan Aviation Plant in Tatarstan today. The plane then took off from the factory runway.
According to TASS , the flight lasted about 30 minutes and landed safely. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Tu-160's flight path was not disclosed because it was a military secret. The pre-takeoff preparation process lasted 45 minutes.
On February 21, Mr. Putin visited the factory, inspected the workshop and the fleet of Tu-160 strategic bombers being upgraded at this facility. The Kremlin leader also went into the cockpit of aircraft numbered 22 Red and gave the aircraft a special name.

The Tu-160 is a supersonic bomber with the largest wingspan and empty weight ever built. It is also the world's largest and heaviest combat aircraft, as well as the fastest bomber. It was nicknamed the "White Swan" because of its radiation-reflecting paint and its rare maneuverability for a bomber.
The modernized version of the Tu-160M is equipped with an integrated self-defense system, new communications equipment and engines, along with many advanced weapons to enhance the ability to strike long-range with high precision. The Russian military asserts that the power of the Tu-160M is much higher than the original Tu-160 variant, and the flight range is also increased by 1,000 km.
