"Their losses are approaching a level that can be described as catastrophic," Mr Putin said at a meeting with Russian journalists in the Kremlin. "We have suffered 10 times fewer losses than the Ukrainian armed forces," he added.
The Russian Defense Ministry has released video footage showing Russian troops examining equipment supplied to Ukraine by Western countries that they captured on the battlefield.
“Leopard tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. These are our trophies. Equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Zaporizhzhia region,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Ukraine, backed by Western-trained weapons and troops, said it had achieved “certain results, according to our plans, and is still moving forward”.

Ukraine's counter-offensive is ongoing, with Kiev claiming to have retaken seven villages. Military spokesman Andriy Kovalyov said the area recaptured in the country's east and south amounted to more than 100 square kilometres.
“Fierce fighting, both defensive and offensive, is taking place in the east and south of our country,” said the commander of the Ukrainian armed forces, Valery Zaluzhny.
The commander of Ukraine's ground forces, Colonel Oleksandr Syrskyi, said the country's army was continuing a “defensive operation in the Bakhmut area”, where the longest battles of the conflict have taken place.
Germany’s defense minister said Berlin would not be able to immediately send additional tanks to Ukraine. The Netherlands said on Tuesday that Western allies could begin training Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighter jets in the coming months.
