Overcoming difficulties and successfully completing the task.
After the complete liberation of South Vietnam, based on the merger of the Da Lat City Supply and Living Materials Department, the Tuyen Duc Provincial Supply Department, and the Lam Dong Provincial Supply Department, on February 23, 1976, the Southern General Department of Supplies issued a decision to establish the Lam Dong General Supply Company. The company's function and nhiệm vụ was to supply various materials, equipment, and fuel to serve the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
In its early days, the company's technical infrastructure was primarily inherited from the previous regime before 1975. The core staff was formed from cadres who participated in the resistance war, the Supply Department of Military Region VI, and soldiers transferred to civilian jobs. The majority of the workforce was recruited from young people living in Lam Dong province. Despite these difficulties, the Lam Dong General Supply Company always remained united and cohesive to successfully fulfill the political tasks entrusted to it by the industry and provincial leaders.
From 1976 to 1990, the company was the province's main supplier of materials. To fulfill this task, the company gradually trained human resources and invested in building technical infrastructure. This included constructing a new fuel depot with a capacity of 1,000 m³ in Bao Loc to ensure a sufficient and timely supply for production and consumption. Simultaneously, it organized the development of a fuel supply network throughout the province; and formed a specialized transport fleet to transport materials and fuel from other areas to serve Lam Dong province.
As part of the development roadmap approved by the Government to align with the market economy, on December 8, 1994, the Ministry of Trade decided to transfer Lam Dong General Supplies Company to the direct control of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation. In August 2000, it was renamed Lam Dong Petroleum Company, a name it retains to this day.
Transitioning from a state-managed and distributed supply unit to a market-based company operating with fierce competition from various economic sectors was a truly challenging task. In the beginning, the company faced numerous difficulties and uncertainties, leading to a decline in business performance.
In that situation, the leadership and employees of Lam Dong General Supplies Company at that time worked together to rebuild the development direction; focusing all resources on petroleum business activities to create stability in the market.
Firmly adhering to its established direction, and with the support of local authorities at all levels, as well as the attention and provision of goods and capital from the parent company, the company has boldly invested in and developed a retail store system to bring gasoline and petrochemical products directly to consumers, including those in remote and rural areas.
Developing more and more
In 1985, after handing over some of its affiliated facilities to the districts, the company was left with only 9 stores, 1 fuel depot, and 1 general supplies warehouse. Today, the company has 61 directly owned retail stores; 19 franchised customers; and 38 direct customers. And the store network will continue to expand in the future.
The stores are all well-built and beautiful, occupying spacious areas and located in convenient locations for business and service. With a brand identity system, Petrolimex gas stations meet industry standards.
To date, the company has invested in a comprehensive range of modern equipment, including: Tasuno fuel pumps connected to an automated system that meets the standards of the Vietnam General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality; a surveillance camera system; and a fire prevention and fighting equipment system that meets standards and is regularly inspected. Sales staff are professional, dedicated, and attentive. They maintain a civilized demeanor and always adhere to the 5-step sales process of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group.
It is the serious and comprehensive investment, from infrastructure to human resources, that has helped the company gradually stabilize and grow, earning the trust of its customers.
Gaining such trust from customers is not something that happens overnight, but rather the result of a long-term strategy, consistently outlined and implemented by the company's leadership throughout its history.
Alongside developing its retail store network, the company focuses on improving management quality, as this is the key to sustainable growth.
In addition to regularly organizing training courses to improve the skills of its staff and employees, the company has implemented the EGAS gas station management software and the SAP-ERP enterprise management software to enhance management efficiency.
This has helped the company's leadership and functional departments stay closely informed about the unit's business situation. At the same time, it has made Petrolimex Lam Dong a pioneer in the entire province, implementing the issuance of electronic invoices for each sale at 61 affiliated gas stations.
Besides petroleum products, the company also engages in the business of other products and services such as lubricants, gas, Petrolimex insurance, Jana laundry detergent, etc., which have been well-received by consumers with strong growth rates, gradually establishing a solid foothold in the local market. This diversification of products and services demonstrates business acumen and contributes to increased revenue for the company.
In recent years, Petrolimex Lam Dong has consistently been among the leading contributors to local budget revenue. The company has also implemented policies and regulations for its employees correctly, fully, and promptly; income levels have been continuously improved; and facilities, technology, and working conditions have been ensured. This has helped employees feel secure in their work, fostering commitment and enthusiasm, and contributing to the company's development.
On August 8, 2023, fulfilling the expectations of the company's employees throughout its history, after 483 days of intensive construction, the new Petrolimex Lam Dong Office Building was completed, inspected, and put into use. The building is an architectural landmark at the eastern gateway of the city and serves as the workplace for over 40 office staff members.
This is also a venue for conferences, events, and many other company activities. The building's commissioning has created a professional, dynamic, and modern working environment, contributing to a new image for Petrolimex Lam Dong.
Actively participate in social activities.
Due to the specialized nature of the business and the professional, dynamic, and modern working environment with a high risk of fire and explosions, the company places special emphasis on ensuring the safety of its employees and customers. In addition to providing complete personal protective equipment and fire safety equipment, the company regularly conducts fire fighting and rescue drills at its stores.
In addition, the unit organizes an annual sports competition on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations to improve the awareness and skills of its employees.
Regarding Party building, the Party Committee, formerly the Lam Dong General Supplies Company Party Branch, was established shortly after the company began operations with 28 members. To date, the Party Committee has 6 branches with 88 members. The Company's Party Committee has been recognized by the higher-level Party Committee as a "Model Clean and Strong Party Committee" for 15 consecutive years and has been awarded the Emulation Flag by the Provincial Party Standing Committee for 5 consecutive years as a "Model Clean and Strong Party Committee" for the periods 2007-2011, 2012-2016, and 2017-2021.
Contributing to the formation and development of the Company, it is impossible not to mention the trade union and the Youth Union, which have always actively mobilized their members and employees to enthusiastically participate in emulation campaigns, contributing to the successful completion of assigned business and political tasks. These organizations are annually recognized by their superiors as "outstandingly strong" grassroots organizations.
Imbued with the noble national tradition of "helping those in need," Petrolimex Lam Dong has always actively participated in social activities initiated by the province. To date, the company has built 6 houses of gratitude, 30 houses of compassion, provided care for 2 parents of fallen soldiers; visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries, and assisted children in difficult circumstances.
In addition, the company also supported the construction of a community cultural center at the Lam Dong Provincial Ethnic Boarding School; and participated in sponsoring activities commemorating the 130th anniversary of the formation and development of Da Lat.
Petrolimex Lam Dong's current position is largely due to the significant contributions of countless generations of employees throughout its history. In the spirit of "remembering the source of the water we drink," the company always dedicates special attention and care, both materially and spiritually, to its retired employees. This is seen as a token of gratitude from the younger generation to the older generation.
In recognition of its achievements over the past 50 years, Lam Dong Petroleum Company has been honored by the State with prestigious awards such as: Labor Orders of the Third, Second, and First Class, and many excellent emulation flags, certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, ministries, the Provincial People's Committee, and the industry.

From October 1st, 2025, Petrolimex Lam Dong Co., Ltd. officially enters a new phase of development with the merger of Binh Thuan Petroleum Company and Petrolimex Dak Nong Branch, in accordance with the restructuring policy of Vietnam National Petroleum Group.
This event is not merely an organizational decision, but a strategically significant milestone – opening up a broader development space where the tranquil Lam Dong plateau connects with the sunny and windy Binh Thuan coast and the fertile, potential-rich basalt land of Dak Nong. From sun-drenched coastal roads to the majestic Central Highlands, a new journey for Petrolimex is being extended and spread.
After 50 years of formation and development, from a general supply unit in the early days after liberation, Petrolimex Lam Dong today has the courage, experience, and ambition to undertake its mission in a larger area, with a large, enthusiastic, and diverse workforce. This convergence is its strength - the strength of unity, of solidarity, and of sharing the same Petrolimex colors.
The road ahead will undoubtedly present challenges, but with the tradition of unity, discipline, and responsibility forged over half a century, the collective of employees and workers of the Company are determined to quickly stabilize the organization, ensure smooth and efficient production and business operations, and continue to maintain its pivotal role in ensuring regional energy security.
Building upon its proud 50-year legacy, Petrolimex Lam Dong confidently continues to write new chapters in its history – brighter, larger-scale, and more sustainable, worthy of the trust of the Group, the local community, and customers throughout the Central Highlands and South Central regions.
