"Black Elixir" marks the return after nearly 4 years of absence of the crime investigation film genre in the "Criminal Police" series.
Actor Huynh Anh (middle) shared that he couldn't help but feel nervous when he first became a police officer.
Sharing at the film premiere in Hanoi , director Nguyen Khai Anh, Deputy Director of the Television Film Center, Vietnam Television (VFC), said that after 4 years, VFC has just released a film about criminal police.
"This is the time for us to look back at ourselves, investing in both the content and the script to achieve the best quality. From the costumes, setting, and content of "Black Elixir" are all carefully invested, promising to bring many surprises to the audience" - director Nguyen Khai Anh shared.
Directors and actors share about the film
Director Pham Gia Phuong said that the original script of the film was about separate, unrelated cases. Although he had never made a crime police film before and was passionate about psychological films, when he read this fascinating story, he decided to build the film around the hidden feelings of a wandering boy who later became a police officer and solved and dealt with criminals who were always hiding and plotting to harm society.
Do Duy Nam as Dat in "Black Drug"
With many twists and turns, "Black Medicine" begins with the story of Tuan (Huynh Anh), a smart, brave policeman with a sad past when he witnessed his mother being murdered. The shock was so great that Tuan lost all his memories of his childhood. That case also left a mark on the mind of a young policeman - Tuyen (Bao Anh).
20 years after the case, Tuan returned to work as the deputy captain of the criminal police team led by Tuyen. Right in the first days of Tuyen's team, Tuan encountered a strange case. The victim was the notorious playboy Trinh Quoc Vuong, the leader of Cityboy, a group of spoiled young men and women, organized since Vuong was in high school.
Binh An has an impressive transformation in the movie
Vuong died in a bar with a strangulation mark, a head wound, a strange smile due to drug shock... Suspects appeared one by one: Long - co-leader of Cityboy; the couple Tien - Tuyet who was harmed by Vuong; Binh - a missing bar employee and Geisha01 - the nickname of a girl disguised as a geisha who was difficult to identify... There were too many people with enough motive to kill Vuong but there was not enough evidence to convict anyone.
At the same time, another case arose, which had many points related to the first case. A new conspiracy with more layers and the terrible secrets behind the "black medicine" were gradually revealed. The battle of wits between the talented police team and the most vicious and cruel criminals became increasingly tense.
Huynh Anh plays a police officer for the first time
With an engaging script, "Black Elixir" is also appealing with a talented cast with a lot of acting experience. Except for Bao Anh who is very familiar with the roles of criminal police, Huynh Anh, Luong Thanh, Hoang Long, Huyen Trang..., this is the first time they wear police uniforms.
Binh An has a pretty impressive transformation when he breaks away from the image of a gentle, country boy in many previous films, to play the role of Long - co-founder of the Cityboy group. Long is full of mischief, scheming and no less cruel.
Bao Anh wants to explore something new in familiar police roles
Do Duy Nam showed that he is not just a comedian when he played the role of Dat, a pervert who enjoys seeing his "prey" being tortured. Meanwhile, Huynh Anh said he could not help but feel nervous when he first became a police officer.
"Black Drug" will air on VTV3 from September 4.
