Speaking with VietNamNet , Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Dinh district, said that the Department of Education and Training and local authorities have worked with Yen Phu Primary School.
At the meeting, the school's Board of Directors clearly identified Mr. C.'s responsibility for smoking, causing the explosion. In this incident, the teacher did not do it on purpose, so the Board of Directors held a meeting and agreed to require Mr. C. to learn from his experience and at the same time strictly enforce the ban on smoking in the school.
“Mr. C. smoking in the school area is wrong. Based on the provisions of the law, Mr. C. will be administratively fined, ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 VND. The school has proposed a fine of 350,000 VND. The local government will decide on the fine,” said Ms. Khuyen.
The burned student is still being treated in hospital.
It is known that teacher C. is over 50 years old and has been teaching at the school for over 30 years. When the incident happened, the teacher himself suffered burns on his hand and had to apply medicine at home.
Mr. Trinh Huu Tung, Principal of Yen Phu Primary School, said that the male teacher's smoking behavior in school was offensive, violating state regulations and school rules. After the incident, Mr. C. realized and pledged not to repeat the offense.
According to Mr. Tung, the burned students are now fully conscious, but still have to stay in the hospital for further monitoring. It is expected that in the next few days, they will be discharged from the hospital and return to school.
As VietNamNet reported, during the recent opening ceremony, Yen Phu Primary School hung two bunches of oxygen balloons on both sides of the stage for decoration.
At around 8:45 a.m., the opening ceremony ended, many students ran up to the stage to get balloons. At that time, Mr. C. was smoking a cigarette and accidentally touched the balloons, causing them to explode, burning the surrounding students.
