Launching the photo contest "Dak Lak – Convergence and Identity"

(NADS) - To celebrate the 49th anniversary of the victory in Buon Ma Thuot City and the 71st anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Photography, on March 10, 2024, the Dak Lak Provincial Association of Literature and Arts launched the photo contest "Dak Lak – Convergence and Identity" to encourage photographers to be creative, create favorable conditions to honor and spread the spirit of solidarity in 120 years of development, aiming towards the goal of building a prosperous and unique Dak Lak by 2045. The contest runs from March 15 to September 30, 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists , and Member of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam; Mr. Thai Hong Ha - Provincial Party Committee Member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ; leaders of various departments and agencies of Dak Lak province; writer Nie Thanh Mai - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities - President of the Dak Lak Provincial Association of Literature and Arts; and 35 heads of the Association of Photographic Artists from 26 provinces/cities.

At the ceremony, writer Niê Thanh Mai, President of the Dak Lak Association of Literature and Arts, stated: 2024 is not only the year commemorating the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province, but also marks a crucial decision in achieving the goals of the 5-year socio-economic development, national defense, and security plan (2021-2025). This not only creates a solid foundation for implementing the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress but also highlights the spirit of unity and historical achievements.

At the opening ceremony, photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong also presented the Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Photography from the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists to three photographers from Dak Lak.

To express gratitude and honor achievements, the Dak Lak Association of Literature and Arts, in coordination with the Provincial People's Committee and the Steering Committee, is organizing activities to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province, the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (November 23, 1940 - November 23, 2024); and the 49th anniversary of the victory at Buon Ma Thuot (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2024). Within this framework, the "Dak Lak – Convergence and Identity" art photography contest and exhibition will take place.

"The competition is not only an important cultural and artistic event, but also an opportunity to look back together at the glorious journey of struggle and victory of the people of Dak Lak in their shared journey with the history of the Vietnamese nation. The competition is also an opportunity to renew the spirit of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and evoke national pride," said writer Nie Thanh Mai.

Through this competition, the organizers hope to create favorable conditions for photographers to be creative, to showcase the beauty of the land and people of Dak Lak, and to emphasize the province's prestigious position over 120 years of development. The competition will also help to strongly spread the image of a modern Dak Lak, which is striving and will continue to strive towards the goal of "Building a prosperous, beautiful, civilized, and distinctive Dak Lak province" by 2045.

The competition officially launched on March 15, 2024, and will conclude on September 30, 2024. The organizers call for the attention, participation, and active support from the photography community and the public both within and outside the province. The awards ceremony will take place in Buon Ma Thuot City in November 2024.
