Launching a special emulation campaign "Proud of 50 years - Innovation and Development"

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the renaming of Saigon-Gia Dinh City to Ho Chi Minh City, the city launched a campaign titled "Proud of 50 Years - Innovation and Development," aimed at promoting economic and social development.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the official renaming of Saigon-Gia Dinh City to Ho Chi Minh City (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026), Ho Chi Minh City is launching a special emulation campaign "Proud of 50 Years - Innovation and Development," from May 18 to December 31, 2026.

This special emulation campaign was launched to create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the city, among cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces personnel, businesspeople, workers, and the general public.

This will strongly inspire the spirit of "Unity - Dynamism - Creativity - Daring to Think - Knowing How to Act," creating new momentum for socio-economic development, administrative reform, digital transformation, and innovation to improve the quality of life. Accordingly, the emulation campaign is divided into two phases.

In particular, Phase 1 (from May 18th to July 2nd) is themed "Sprint Competition - Achieving Achievements to Celebrate 50 Years," focusing on competing to achieve accomplishments to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the day the city of Saigon-Gia Dinh officially had the honor of being named after President Ho Chi Minh.

Each agency, unit, enterprise, and the 168 communes, wards, and special zones of the City registered to implement at least one exemplary project or task, focusing on five key project groups, including: infrastructure and urban beautification projects (transportation, schools, healthcare , environment, public spaces, etc.); digital transformation and administrative reform projects (digitizing processes, online public services, "digital ward/commune" models, etc.); social welfare projects (houses for needy families, support for poor households, care for war veterans, etc.); cultural and propaganda projects (Ho Chi Minh cultural space, cultural institutions, community activities, etc.); and projects ensuring national defense and security, urban order, and the environment.

During this peak period, Ho Chi Minh City will also focus its resources intensely, accelerate progress, and ensure the timely completion of key projects; striving for 80% of key projects to be commenced; at least 80% of projects and tasks registered for completion before July 2, 2026; and the remaining projects to be completed in 2026.

In Phase 2 (from July 2nd to December 31st, 2026), the theme of the emulation campaign is defined as "Accelerating - Breaking Through - Comprehensively Completing the 2026 Tasks," requiring agencies, units, businesses, localities, and individuals and collectives of the City to focus on completing all targets and tasks for 2026 in a synchronized and high-quality manner; focusing on resolving outstanding issues, promptly addressing difficulties, preventing the emergence of "bottlenecks," and improving the effectiveness of achieved results; thereby creating a solid foundation in infrastructure, institutions, and governance capacity for the next development phase.

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City noted that the implementation of the emulation campaign must ensure focus and priorities, clearly defining the content, progress, products, and specific targets; linking the emulation with the effective implementation of key projects and activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary, especially infrastructure projects, social welfare, digital transformation, and enterprise development.
