Launching a movement to pick up trash and protect the environment

On the morning of August 23, at the Hanoi Children's Palace, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a ceremony to launch a campaign to mobilize the entire population to participate in environmental protection for a bright - green - clean - beautiful Vietnam.

The launching ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh and representatives of ministries, socio-political organizations, many international organizations...

At the same time, about 1,000 students majoring in irrigation, environmental resources... are studying in Hanoi and thousands of people are responding in Cau Giay, Yen Hoa and Nghia Do wards... of Hanoi.

In his opening speech, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang asked people to join hands to preserve the living environment. Mr. Tran Duc Thang hopes that each individual, each family, each organization needs to take specific actions such as not littering, actively participating in cleaning streets, residential areas, schools, canals, rivers and beaches.

Localities need to mobilize the political system, coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations to deploy the movement synchronously and effectively.

Immediately after the brief launching ceremony, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hanoi People's Committee, along with thousands of delegates, youth, students and Hanoi residents, spread out to collect waste, clean the landscape and plant trees around the Hanoi Children's Palace, several lakes and parks in Hanoi.

Garbage is divided into many types, such as recyclable garbage and garbage that needs to be destroyed, treated...

This activity is in response to the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 134/CD-TTg dated August 13, 2025 on promoting waste collection, protecting and maintaining environmental sanitation nationwide. Today's event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that the movement will be maintained weekly with general cleaning activities on Saturday mornings, aiming to create green and civilized living habits for the community. The program's message affirms that each small action of the people will contribute to creating great strength to build a clean and sustainable Vietnam.
