
Opening Ceremony of the "2026 Durian Consumption Peak Week".
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hua Truong Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, said that as of May 25th, the entire city still had about 2,400 hectares of durian trees yet to be harvested, with an expected yield of about 36,000 tons. Over the past period, the city's Department of Industry and Trade has actively coordinated with relevant departments, localities, and businesses to implement many comprehensive solutions to support durian consumption for farmers, such as coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to connect with distribution systems, wholesale markets, and large purchasing enterprises; and introducing information on reputable purchasing enterprises to localities to support cooperatives, production groups, and households in connecting and trading.

The purpose of organizing this week is to further promote consumption connections, expand markets, reduce agricultural product congestion, and stabilize prices for the people. The Department of Industry and Trade of the city is committed to continuing to work alongside businesses and people; strengthening trade promotion activities, connecting markets, supporting digital transformation, and promptly advising on resolving emerging difficulties, in order to contribute to the development of the durian industry in a modern, stable, and sustainable direction.

The 2026 Durian Consumption Peak Week will take place from May 28th to June 4th, featuring numerous activities to connect supply and demand, promote and facilitate trade through both direct and online means. According to the City's Department of Industry and Trade, products participating in the program must ensure quality, food safety and hygiene, traceability, and publicly listed prices.

At the ceremony, a product consumption agreement was signed between MM Mega Market Hung Loi Center, Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Joint Stock Company, and several durian-growing cooperatives in the city.
