Dozens of tons of animal organs of unknown origin discovered to serve the high demand during Tet

Conducting a surprise inspection of a warehouse at Lot 11, Quang Minh Industrial Park, Quang Minh Town, Me Linh District, Hanoi City on January 8, Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department in coordination with Team 7, Hanoi City Police Economic Police Department discovered a large quantity of frozen food in intact carton boxes.


The warehouse stores nearly 10 tons of frozen food including beef tripe, beef stomach, and pork stomach.

During the inspection, the inspection team recorded nearly 10 tons of goods including beef tripe, beef stomach, and pork stomach without labels, and the packaging did not show product information, production date, or expiration date. The largest amount was beef tripe, about 8 tons. The rest were beef and pork stomachs. All goods in this warehouse were frozen products. According to observations, many products showed signs of decomposition, discoloration, and foul odors.

The owner of the facility was identified as Mr. HVD (residing in Bac Kan province). Working with the inspection team, the owner of the facility could not present invoices and documents proving the legality of the goods. The shipment was worth nearly 550 million VND.

According to a representative of Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department, the goods at the facility were collected from many different sources, then used refrigerated trucks to move at night to limit inspection by authorities. More sophisticatedly, the subjects also continuously changed the license plates as well as the means of transport to hide the detection of inspection teams.

All of these goods are imported to meet the increased demand during the upcoming Lunar New Year. Not only distributed in the Hanoi market, these items are also sold in many stores and restaurants across the country.

Also on January 8, another working group of Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department coordinated with the Economic Police Department - Hanoi Police to inspect a frozen food business establishment at alley 21 Tuu Liet, Thanh Tri district.

At the time of inspection, the working group discovered more than 2.1 tons of frozen food including pig brain, egg intestine, pig intestine, chicken gizzard, chicken gizzard,... of unknown origin and not yet quality tested. The owner of the facility, Ms. PTH (born: 1992), could not present a business registration certificate or invoices for the above goods.

Through investigation, Ms. H. confessed to purchasing the above goods floating on the market and reselling them to customers in need in Hanoi and some neighboring provinces. The inspection team made a record and temporarily detained all the above goods for handling according to the provisions of law.
