Previously, patient NNBL (born in 2016, residing in Cam Hong commune, Quang Tri province) was brought to the hospital by relatives when he had symptoms of itching and pain in the ear area for a long time. After performing an endoscopy, the doctor discovered many foreign objects living in the patient's ear area. The patient was assigned to perform an endoscopy procedure to remove foreign objects from both ears.

These foreign bodies are living, parasitic organisms that are deeply attached to the patient's ear canal. After about 15 minutes, the doctor successfully removed 5 foreign bodies, which were dog ticks, from the child's ear.
According to Dr. Pham Van Vuong, ENT specialist, Department of General Surgery, Quang Ninh Regional General Hospital, these parasitic dog ticks can invade during children's contact with pets and survive in the body for a long time.
“Dog ticks parasitizing the outer ear area can cause discomfort and can also have negative health effects such as causing ear infections and negatively affecting the ear canal and eardrum. Parents need to be careful when letting young children come into contact with and play with pets to avoid infectious organisms and diseases. If you detect any unusual signs in your child, take them to a medical facility for early examination and treatment,” Dr. Vuong advised.
