In that glorious period, the people of Long An have their own pride in having directly contributed their efforts, strength, and blood to the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, striking directly at the enemy's last stronghold in Saigon—a decisive blow to liberate the South and unify the country.

From mid-1954, the US imperialists directly intervened in the South Vietnamese battlefield. Located at the gateway to Saigon from the southwestern region, Long An held a crucial strategic position, becoming a fiercely contested area between our forces and the enemy, where intense and prolonged fighting took place. The US and the Saigon government designated Long An as a key area in their programs of "denouncing and eliminating communists," "pacification," and "relocating people and establishing settlements." With fervent patriotism, the wise leadership of the Party, and the spirit of "Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, rather die than be enslaved," throughout the 21 years of protracted resistance, the people and army of Long An united and fought bravely and tenaciously; together with the people and army of the eastern and southwestern regions and the entire country, they achieved many resounding victories.

From there, on April 30, 1975 in Long An and the morning of May 1, 1975 in Kien Tuong (later merged into Long An), our army and people simultaneously rose up with fierce battles, dismantling the entire enemy administrative system in both provinces, and together with the whole of South Vietnam, successfully concluding the historic Spring Offensive and Uprising of 1975 .

Since seizing power, and building upon the heroic spirit of the historic April 30th and the tradition of "Loyalty, courage, and unwavering resistance of the entire people against the enemy," the Party Committee, government, and people of Long An have overcome countless difficulties and challenges, striving to achieve glorious accomplishments in building the government, quickly healing the wounds of war, and stabilizing the lives of the people. At the same time, they have fought to protect the border and fulfilled their international obligations to assist their neighbor Cambodia...

The province's outstanding achievement is the breakthrough in eliminating the subsidy mechanism in production and distribution; advancing to unlock and awaken the economic and defense potential of the Dong Thap Muoi region. From 1986 to the present, the Provincial Party Committee has set forth breakthrough programs, key projects, practical and decisive tasks and solutions to lead all levels, sectors and strata of the people in boosting production, shifting the economic structure, developing transportation infrastructure, building new rural areas, building cultural life, maintaining security, political order and social safety, consolidating national defense, and firmly protecting the national border and territory... From there, the province has risen to strong development, becoming a dynamic locality in the Southern Key Economic Region, contributing increasingly to the cause of national development and international integration.

With its outstanding achievements, Long An is honored and proud to have been awarded many prestigious titles by the Party and the State: the Gold Star Order, the First Class Liberation Military Merit Order, the First Class Resistance Order, the First Class Independence Order, the First Class Labor Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order, etc. In addition, hundreds of collectives and individuals have been honored with the titles of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hero of Labor, etc., further enhancing the tradition of "Loyalty, courage, and resilience; the whole people fighting the enemy".

Half a century has passed, but the victory of the resistance war remains a glorious milestone in our nation's history, inspiring our people and progressive friends who cherish peace, independence, freedom, and justice around the world. It continues to be a material and spiritual strength that encourages the entire Party, people, and army to accelerate the cause of industrialization and modernization, and to build and firmly defend the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory of April 30, 1975, the entire Party, people, and army of Long An province continue to build upon the achievements made in the process of national construction and defense. At the same time, they strive to promptly overcome existing shortcomings, weaknesses, and deficiencies, further promoting patriotism, maximizing the strength of national unity, and enhancing national pride and self-respect. In particular, they are determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, striving to achieve the highest possible levels of socio-economic development targets and goals for 2025, aiming for double-digit economic growth to bring prosperity and happiness to the people of the province.
