The 1975 Spring Strategic General Offensive, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign , ended our army and people's long-term resistance war against the US to save the country, the North and the South reunited, and the country was filled with joy.

In that glory, the people of Long An have their own pride in having directly contributed their efforts and blood to the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, which directly attacked the enemy's last stronghold in Saigon, the decisive blow to liberate the South and unify the country.

Since mid-1954, the US imperialists directly intervened in the Southern battlefield. With its position as the gateway to Saigon from the Southwest, Long An has a key strategic position, a fiercely contested area between us and the enemy, where the war took place fiercely and for a long time. The US and the Saigon government placed Long An in the key area of ​​the program of "denouncing communists, destroying communists", "pacification", "relocating people, establishing hamlets". With ardent patriotism, the wise leadership of the Party, the spirit of "Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves", during the 21-year long resistance war, the army and people of Long An united to stand up, fight bravely and indomitably; together with the army and people of the East, Southwest and the whole country, they made many resounding achievements.

From there, on April 30, 1975 in Long An and the morning of May 1, 1975 in Kien Tuong (later merged into Long An), our army and people simultaneously rose up with stormy battles, disintegrating the entire enemy government system in both provinces, and together with the whole South, successfully ending the historic 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising .

Since taking power into the hands of the people, promoting the heroic spirit of the historic April 30th and the tradition of “Loyalty and steadfastness, the whole people fight the enemy”, the Party Committee, government and people of Long An have overcome countless difficulties and challenges, striving to achieve glorious achievements in building the government, quickly healing the wounds of war, stabilizing people's lives. At the same time, fighting to protect the border, while fulfilling international obligations to help our friendly country Cambodia,...

The province's outstanding achievements are the breakthrough in eliminating the subsidy mechanism in production and distribution; advancing to open up and awaken the economic and defense potential of the Dong Thap Muoi region. Since 1986, the Provincial Party Committee has proposed breakthrough programs, key projects, tasks, practical and drastic solutions for leaders at all levels, sectors and people to promote production, shift economic structure, develop transport infrastructure, build new rural areas, build cultural life, maintain security, politics, order, social safety, consolidate national defense, firmly protect the national border and territory,... From there, the province has grown strongly, becoming a dynamic locality in the Southern Key Economic Zone, contributing increasingly to the cause of national development and international integration.

With great achievements, Long An is honored and proud to be awarded many noble titles by the Party and State: Gold Star Order, First Class Liberation Military Exploit Order, First Class Resistance Order, First Class Independence Order, First Class Labor Order, Ho Chi Minh Order,... Besides, hundreds of collectives and individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hero of Labor,... contributing to further embellishing the tradition of "Loyalty and steadfastness, the whole people fight the enemy".

Half a century has passed, but the victory of the resistance war is a brilliant milestone in our nation's history, inspiring our people and progressive friends who love peace, independence, freedom and justice in the world, and is still the material and spiritual strength that encourages our entire Party, people and army to promote the cause of industrialization, modernization, and to build and firmly defend the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory of April 30, 1975, the entire Party, people and army of Long An continue to promote the achievements in the process of building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, make every effort to promptly overcome shortcomings, limitations, weaknesses and shortcomings, continue to promote patriotism even more, maximize the strength of the great national unity bloc, enhance national pride and self-esteem. In particular, strive to compete and be determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, strive to achieve the highest level of socio-economic development targets and objectives in 2025 with a double-digit economic growth rate for the purpose of bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people in the province./.
