Even while still a student at Hon Dat High School, Le Nguyen Thanh Long (currently a first-year student at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy) set his sights on becoming a Party member. With outstanding academic achievements, diligence, and good moral character, Thanh Long was nurtured and admitted to the Party by the Party Branch of Hon Dat High School in the 2024-2025 academic year. “Being a member of the Party has helped me mature and given me more motivation to train and study to be worthy of the role of a young Party member,” Thanh Long shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, Thành Long's mother, expressed: "My husband and I are both Party members, so when our son was admitted to the Party at high school, we were very proud and excited. Becoming a young Party member helps him improve his sense of discipline, gives him more opportunities to train himself, study hard, and become a useful citizen for society."
Not only have successful candidates been admitted, but the work of developing Party membership at Hon Dat High School has been implemented systematically and continuously. Tran Le Anh Khoa, a student in class 12A2, has achieved excellent academic results for three consecutive years, won second prize in the provincial-level excellent student competition in Literature, and actively participated in Youth Union activities. Therefore, the school recommended him to participate in the Party membership orientation class in 2025. "The class helped me better understand the ideals of the Party, giving me more motivation to continue striving and improving," Anh Khoa expressed.
Thanks to its focus on early recruitment, Hon Dat High School consistently exceeds its annual targets for Party member development. In 2024, the school admitted 10 new Party members, exceeding the target by 5; in 2025, it developed 7 new Party members, exceeding the target by 3. Although no target has been set for 2026, the school has proactively sent 17 students and 3 teachers to participate in Party membership orientation classes, laying the foundation for Party development in the following years.
Sharing his experience, Pham Tuan Anh, Vice Principal of Hon Dat High School, said that from grade 10, the Party Committee assigns homeroom teachers to coordinate with the school's Youth Union to monitor and identify students with good academic performance, good morals, and active participation in movements for further development. Once outstanding students are identified, the school pays attention to understanding their thoughts and aspirations, coordinating with parents to guide and create conditions for them to strive and train according to the standards for Party membership.
The role of the Youth Union in identifying and recommending potential Party members has been clearly demonstrated. According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Chung, Secretary of the Youth Union at Hon Dat High School, the school's Youth Union regularly monitors the learning process, training, adherence to regulations, and participation in movements of its members to promptly recommend outstanding individuals to the Party branch for further training.
In fact, most young Party members recruited from Hon Dat High School are admitted to universities after graduation. This confirms that Party member development in schools not only contributes to building a strong Party organization but also motivates students to strive comprehensively in their studies, ethics, and lifestyle, gradually forming a team of young Party members with strong character, knowledge, and a desire to contribute.
