Organic agriculture is understood as a form of farming that avoids or eliminates most of the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators or additives in food. Based on the above criteria, the rice - earthworm - clam model in Quang Ninh can be considered a typical example of organic farming. The entire growth and development process of rice plants, earthworms and clams is completely unaffected by any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Therefore, the products created from these fields naturally ensure clean and safe standards, one of the conditions for being certified as organic products.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has 90 hectares of rice-rice-shrimp cultivation in Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Quang Yen; 45 hectares of organic rice with a yield of about 150 tons in Dong Trieu and Quang Yen towns; 329 hectares of organic cinnamon with a yield of 220 tons in Tien Yen and Dam Ha districts.
Along with organic agriculture, the whole province is increasingly seeing green, clean, high-value agricultural models. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, those green, clean agricultural models have high scientific and technological content, are interconnected, combine agricultural economy with tourism and service economy, have solutions for farming with little or no land use... and above all, green, clean, sustainable, high-value agricultural models must possess high technical standards that have been certified.
Up to now, the whole Quang Ninh province has 12,000 hectares of concentrated crops, 56 growing areas with planting area codes, nearly 9,500 hectares of forest with forest certification, 1 livestock area safe from diseases and 1 aquaculture facility licensed until 2050. According to Mr. Tran Van Thuc, Head of the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, in the current context, the fact that breeding and growing areas are coded is a necessary condition for products to be eligible for export, thereby bringing high value to agricultural production.
Typical green and clean agricultural models in Quang Ninh today can be seen as: Tuan Hung Agricultural, Forestry and Aquatic Products Production and Trading Cooperative (Duc Yen Commune, Dam Ha District) from the foundation of a household specializing in growing Bao Thai rice, has organized cooperation with many households in the commune, expanded the cultivation area, created a large output of Bao Thai rice for processing, packaging and centralized sale; Orange Farm Vang Danh agricultural-tourism model (Vang Danh ward, Uong Bi city), Yen Duc rural tourism model (Dong Trieu town), Quang Long tea hill (Hai Ha district), Dong Ho orchid farm (Ha Long city), Cao Son flower garden (Binh Lieu), Greenfarm 188 Mao Khe hydroponic vegetable model (Dong Trieu town), Hai Lang commune family ecological area (Tien Yen district), Van Yen orange garden (Van Don district)... Each of the above green and clean agricultural models is said to bring much higher value than agriculture or tourism alone, creating jobs and income for people, contributing to the overall growth of both agricultural and tourism sectors, promoting the development of the province's economy in general...
It can be seen that the development of organic agriculture, towards the development of green, clean and sustainable agriculture in Quang Ninh is currently an inevitable development trend, meeting the increasing demands of the agricultural product consumer market.
