Developing VINAFOR into a large-scale forestry corporation

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc stated that over 30 years of construction and development, the Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) has made continuous efforts and made important contributions to the forestry and wood processing industry... From a modest starting point, the Corporation has now grown to a relatively large scale, managing more than 43,000 hectares of forest; creating jobs for more than 30,000 workers.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Party and State always identify forestry as an important technical economic sector, contributing significantly to economic development, environmental protection, poverty reduction, ensuring social security, national defense, security, etc.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that to meet development requirements in the new period, the forest economy must develop in depth based on the application of science , technology and innovation, thereby strengthening the forestry sector in which the Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) plays a central role.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that in the coming time, the Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) needs to promote the application of high technology, mechanization, improve production and business efficiency, expand raw material areas, deep processing, develop sustainable forests, bring high economic value... Besides, the Corporation needs to continue to perfect the modern and transparent governance model, build a high-quality human resource team; improve competitiveness, strengthen international cooperation, expand and diversify markets, and integrate more deeply into global value chains. The Corporation aims to develop into a large-scale forestry corporation.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity to develop the Corporation strongly. The Government will continue to create favorable conditions for Vinafor Corporation to excellently complete its assigned tasks.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to Vietnam Forestry Corporation (Vinafor).

Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR), formerly Vietnam Forest Products Corporation under Decision No. 667 of the former Ministry of Forestry on the basis of merging 10 Corporations and Unions of Enterprises under the former Ministry of Forestry. On November 4, 1997, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 993/1997/QD-TTg ranking the Corporation as a special-class state-owned enterprise.

The Corporation manages and develops tens of thousands of hectares of planted forests across the country, not only providing a stable source of wood materials for the processing industry but also making an important contribution to reforesting barren land and hills, protecting the ecological environment.

Operating in dozens of provinces and cities, over 30 years of construction and development, Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) has created jobs for tens of thousands of workers, making an important contribution to afforestation, developing raw material areas, developing the forestry industry nationwide, developing green economy, circular economy; eliminating hunger, reducing poverty, ensuring social security for people in remote, isolated and border areas... Production and business activities have continuously developed, with high profits.

Looking to the future, Vietnam Forestry Corporation (VINAFOR) will continue to promote the application of science and technology, improve the quality of planted forests, forestry varieties, and process forestry products to continue to reach out, bring great value to the community, join hands for a green world, for a green Vietnam, and join the country in entering a new era, an era of prosperous and happy development.
