On the evening of August 21, hundreds of parents wishing to send their children to Tay Mo 3 Primary School, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi, gathered and waited for a satisfactory answer regarding their children's education.
In response to public outrage, at 9 p.m. the same day, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District sent a notice to parents.
Present at Tay Mo 3 Primary School, Mr. Pham Van Khang - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District answered parents' questions.
According to the announcement, implementing Decision 1388/QD-UBND dated July 4, 2024 of the Chairman of Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee on separating Tay Mo Primary School into Tay Mo Primary School and Tay Mo 3 Primary School, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District has organized the separation of students in accordance with the separation project approved by Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee.
After the separation, the total number of students at Tay Mo 3 Primary School was 1,111. However, on August 21, Tay Mo 3 Primary School reported receiving 524 applications (as of 5:00 p.m. on the same day, August 21) from parents wishing to send their children to study at Tay Mo 3 Primary School, Nam Tu Liem District.
The Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem district coordinated with the People's Committee of Tay Mo ward and related units to review, synthesize, and classify subjects and report to the People's Committee to propose solutions to ensure the legitimate rights of students according to regulations.
At the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Khang - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District said that he had presented a plan to handle the case of 524 parents who wished to send their children to study at Tay Mo 3 Primary School.
The Department will have a meeting with parents at 2:00 p.m. on August 23 to announce the official handling plan after the District People's Committee has approved the solution.
"We will develop a plan to ensure the legitimate rights of students. Create all conditions according to regulations for them to study in the area," Mr. Khang affirmed.
Also on the same evening, the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District informed about the solution to the problem of many parents gathering at the gate of Tay Mo 3 Primary School to petition the school to let their children enroll at the school.
Regarding the solution, the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem district said that it will strengthen propaganda work so that people understand that Tay Mo 3 Primary School is a public school separated from Tay Mo Primary School and is for children in Tay Mo ward.
After separating grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and recruiting new grades 1, the total number of students at Tay Mo 3 Primary School is 30 classes with 1,111 students - exceeding the target (according to regulations, 30 classes with a maximum of 1,050 students).
The People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District assigned the District Education and Training Department to coordinate with the People's Committee of Tay Mo Ward and related units to review cases of students currently studying at Ly Nam De Primary School with registered residence in the enrollment area, wishing to go to Tay Mo 3 Primary School for consideration and settlement according to regulations.
The District People's Committee also continues to grasp the situation, collect information and aspirations to synthesize, classify subjects, count the number, report to leaders and advise on solutions according to regulations.
