A light aircraft carrying eight people crashed onto a highway in Selangor state, Malaysia, killing at least 10 people.
The Beechcraft Model 390 aircraft carrying six passengers and two crew members crashed near the town of Elmina at around 3 p.m. (2 p.m. Hanoi time) while en route from the resort island of Langkawi to Subang airport in Selangor state.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said at least 10 people were killed, including eight on the plane and at least two on the ground, including a car driver and a motorcyclist.
Images posted on social media X showed a section of the Elmina highway burnt out and smoke rising. Malaysian authorities have cordoned off the area.

Witnesses described the plane suddenly crashing to the ground and exploding, with debris hitting cars and motorbikes. Johari Harun, a member of parliament in Pahang state, was believed to have been on board.
Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) director-general Norazman Mahmud said the Air Accident Investigation Department under the Malaysian Transport Ministry would look into the incident. Malaysian private jet services company Jet Valet Sdn Bhd, which operated the crashed plane, said it would cooperate with authorities.
