The 16th edition for movie fans in Vietnam

The 2024 Japanese Film Festival will last from November 1 to December 28, passing through four beautiful cities of Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong and Hanoi .

The Japan Film Festival is one of the largest cultural events organized annually by the Japan Foundation, with the aim of bringing Japanese cinema closer to audiences around the world .

In Vietnam, after more than 16 years of presence in the S-shaped country, the Film Festival has introduced to Vietnamese audiences countless excellent Japanese cinematographic works and gradually received increasing love and support from the people.

Continuing this cinematic journey, the 2024 Film Festival promises not to disappoint audiences with a collection of 11 blockbuster films shown in the last two months of the year.

The opening film for this year's event is the blockbuster Godzilla-1.0, premiering on Vietnamese cinema screens for the first time.

This is an iconic Japanese science fiction film about the monster Godzilla made to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the series. Godzilla-1.0 won the Best Visual Effects award at the 96th Academy Awards.

The first Godzilla produced in 1954 will also be shown as part of the program taking place in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with only one screening.

In addition, the Film Festival also brought to the audience two other famous animated films: Sandland, adapted from the manga of the same name by author Toriyama Akira, the father of the long-running comic series Dragon Ball and HAIKYUU!! ; and Battle of the Junkyard - one of the best Japanese animated films on the subject of sports.

Notably, Let's Go Karaoke! – an extremely humorous and interesting live-action adaptation of the famous one-shot manga by author Yama Wayama will also be a highlight of the Film Festival.

It is known that this comic series has been published in Vietnam and attracted a large number of fans. Director Yamashita Nobuhiro, who is behind the success of the film, will be present at the 2024 Japanese Film Festival taking place in Hanoi.
