The English score distribution of the 2025 high school graduation exam is beautiful and balanced.

On the afternoon of July 15, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the 2025 high school graduation exam score distribution for subjects, including English.

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Chairman of the Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that the 2025 high school graduation score distribution is "surprisingly" beautiful when the "elephant's back" shape of previous years has disappeared, replaced by an ideal pyramid shape.

"This shows that English is no longer a scary subject for candidates," commented Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc. Although candidates and parents initially reacted because the test was too difficult, the final results proved the reasonableness of the test. This year, the test was more difficult but the average score was still 5.38, showing that the candidates' abilities have clearly improved.

Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministryof Education and Training Nguyen Ngoc Ha said that in 2025, for the first time, the High School Graduation Exam will be organized according to the new General Education Program. In addition to the two compulsory subjects of Math and Literature, the remaining subjects are chosen by candidates, so the input quality is better, reflecting the students' abilities and learning orientation.

According to the analysis results of the Ministry of Education and Training, in the English subject of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, there were 351,848 candidates taking the exam, achieving an average score of 5.38 (in 2024 it was 5.51). The median score was 5.25 points. The score with the most candidates was 5.25. The number of candidates with scores below average was 134,478 (accounting for 38.22%). Compared to 2024, experts from the Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the indicators were quite similar.

Observing the score spectrum of recent years (2022, 2023, 2024), it can be seen that this year's English score spectrum is no longer skewed to the right, no longer has a "saddle" or "elephant's back" shape with two peaks like previous years.

The English score distribution in 2025 has a balanced shape, evenly distributed on both sides, closer to the standard distribution, according to the assessment of experts from the Ministry of Education and Training.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dang Hung, Hanoi University of Industry, commented: "The English score distribution is the best among the score distributions of the 12 subjects in this year's high school graduation exam."

A notable point is that this year, among the 141 candidates who scored 10 points in English nationwide, the list of 10 localities with the most 10 points in English, along with Hanoi (56 candidates), Ho Chi Minh City (29 candidates), Bac Ninh, Da Nang,... also includes the provinces: Gia Lai, Dak Lak. Dien Bien also ranked 4th in the group of 10 provinces and cities with the highest average English score in the country, although the number of candidates taking the exam was only more than 500 students.
