Deputy Prime Minister offers condolences to families of victims of accident that killed 4 members of HAGL Club

Immediately after learning about the extremely serious traffic accident that occurred in Chu Puh district, Gia Lai, which killed 3 members of Hoang Anh Gia Lai football club on the spot and injured 1 person, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, assigned the Vice Chairman of the Committee to organize a working delegation of the Committee and related member agencies to the scene to coordinate with local leaders to direct the handling of the consequences and visit and encourage the families of the victims.

Through the working delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister also conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased victims and encouraged and visited the injured victims in the incident.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 2:40 p.m. on August 12, at km1646+500 of Ho Chi Minh Road, in Tao Chor village, Ia Hru commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai province, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred between a truck with license plate 81H-027.60 driven by Dinh Tien Binh (36 years old, residing in Nhon Hoa town, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai) traveling from Dak Lak to Gia Lai.

When arriving at the location, the truck with license plate 81H-027.60 collided with a car with license plate 81A-004.70 driven by Nguyen Tu Sinh (57 years old, residing in Ia Kring ward, Pleiku city, Gia Lai) carrying 3 people including: Mr. Duong Minh Ninh (48 years old, residing in Dien Hong ward, Pleiku city), Mr. Paollo Madeira Oliveira (27 years old, Portuguese nationality), and Mr. Dao Trong Tri (31 years old, residing in Chu Se town, Chu Se district, Gia Lai province); leading to a subsequent collision with a truck with license plate 47C-263.06 driven by Nguyen Tan Xon (39 years old, residing in Pong Drang commune, Krong Buk, Dak Lak).

The particularly serious traffic accident caused 3 members of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club: Mr. Duong Minh Ninh (assistant coach), Paollo Madeira Oliveira (player) and Dao Trong Tri (doctor) to die on the spot; driver Nguyen Tu Sinh was injured; 3 vehicles were damaged.

Local leaders were present immediately after the traffic accident to direct rescue forces; examine the scene and investigate the cause.

On the morning of August 13, the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province Police temporarily detained driver Dinh Tien for signs of violating regulations on road traffic. Truck with license plate 81H-027.60 driven by driver Dinh Tien Binh violated the law when overtaking without ensuring conditions and crashed into a 5-seat car with license plate 81A-004.70 of Hoang Anh Giao Lai Football Club.

Initial investigation determined that driver Dinh Tien Binh drove truck with license plate 81H-027.60 without ensuring the conditions for overtaking as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 14 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law.

Currently, the cause of the particularly serious traffic accident that killed 3 members of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club and injured 1 person is still being investigated and clarified.
