Attending the reception were Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance and representatives of leaders of a number of ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam.
Rapidus, founded in 2022, is a semiconductor technology corporation founded under the backing of 8 leading Japanese corporations with the mission of restoring Japan's position in the semiconductor industry.
Currently, the Group focuses on the design, development and production of high-performance logic chips for AI, supercomputers and smart cars. The Group's first factory is located in Hokkaido, with a roadmap for trial production in 2025 and mass production in 2027.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Chairman Higashi Tetsuro who at many working sessions always emphasized that Vietnam is a strategic partner in human resource development in the semiconductor field for Rapidus and Japan.

Expressing his belief in Mr. Higashi Tetsuro's vision, with the combined efforts of 8 corporations, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Rapidus will certainly succeed and achieve its goals and plans.
Vietnam identifies science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as "top important breakthroughs" and "main driving forces" to restructure the economy , establish a new growth model and turn Vietnam into a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Vietnam has issued a Strategy for Semiconductor Industry Development, established a National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development, and is synchronously implementing many solutions to develop the semiconductor industry ecosystem. For example, establishing an Investment Support Fund, implementing a Project to train 50,000 semiconductor engineers, attracting FDI, and promoting public-private and private-private partnerships in all stages of the semiconductor industry.

Recognizing that this is a time when both sides have full opportunities to share, complement and support each other, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested that Rapidus cooperate with the Vietnamese Government and domestic partners to train engineers and send Vietnamese engineers to study and work at Rapidus factories and its partners.
"Rapidus can consider the possibility of establishing a human resource training center in Vietnam," the Deputy Prime Minister said, suggesting the Semiconductor Industry Human Resource Development Program, especially providing training programs, scholarships for students, postgraduates as well as internships for Vietnamese students.
Mr. Higashi Tetsuro said that the Group is ready to participate in human resource training and will, through the Vietnam - Japan University, research and propose a mechanism to implement the Deputy Prime Minister's opinion.
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also suggested that Rapidus expand its research and development, production and business activities in Vietnam, to take advantage of Vietnam's preferential policies in the semiconductor sector and contribute to the development of Vietnam's technology ecosystem; advise the Vietnamese Government on breakthrough mechanisms and policies to promote the semiconductor industry in Vietnam./.
