My Tan is a locality located along the Red River. In recent days, floodwaters from upstream flowing into the Red River section through My Tan commune have caused the water level to rise rapidly, overflowing the dike, inundating many areas of crops and houses of people in the commune.

According to the report of the People's Committee of My Tan commune, due to the impact of heavy rain and floods, the whole commune has 8 villages affected and flooded. In this situation, the local government has organized the evacuation of nearly 3,000 people (elderly, children, pregnant women...) to safety.

In recent days, the water level of the Red River has continuously risen, at alarm level 3, overflowing the dike, causing flooding of 65 hectares of rice; 265 hectares of flowers and vegetables; more than 53 hectares of aquaculture...

To prevent water from overflowing the dike, the locality mobilized 15,000 sandbags to transport to the weak point of the dike to prevent overflow.

Along with that, we coordinated with more than 300 police and military officers and soldiers of the city and Nam Dinh province to continuously support anti-landslide, anti-overflow and evacuate people in the flood-prone areas during the days of river flooding...

During a field inspection at My Tan commune, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested that after the Red River recedes, authorities at all levels, police and military forces, etc., should quickly help people clean up their hamlets, villages, and houses so that people can soon stabilize their lives.

Because people's fields and gardens were deeply submerged in water, causing heavy damage, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested authorities at all levels, the agricultural sector of the province, district... to promptly prepare short-term crop varieties suitable for the soil, in order to support people to soon resume production.

"I appreciate the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, Vietnam Fatherland Front of Nam Dinh province, authorities at all levels, and departments and branches in the province for implementing the "4 on-the-spot" motto well, quickly stepping in to help people evacuate their assets and people to a safe place," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.

During the field inspection in My Tan commune, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and leaders of ministries, branches... visited and presented gifts to teachers and students of My Tan Primary School; at the same time encouraged, visited and presented gifts to households affected by floods and are taking shelter at My Tan Primary School.
