Officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department instruct employees of accommodation service establishments on how to use fire extinguishers. |
Raise awareness
The boarding house at 10/1 Quang Te (Truong An ward, Thuan Hoa district) has dozens of high-rise rooms and is located in a convenient location, so it is always full of tenants. In addition to equipping a fire protection system that meets technical standards, the management department here regularly coordinates with the authorities to organize inspections and reviews during each peak hot season.
Mr. Ho Dac Doanh, manager of the boarding house at 10/1 Quang Te shared: “I myself have been trained in fire prevention and fighting skills and have been granted a certificate. Fire extinguishers are equipped at fixed points of the boarding house in case of an incident. We regularly check and replace expired fire extinguishers.”
Not only this motel, Hue City has thousands of service establishments of all kinds that are frequently rented by many people and tourists . During the hot season, the demand for electricity increases, leading to the risk of fire and explosion.
According to the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department (PCCC&CNCH), hotels, apartment buildings and boarding houses are places where many people often gather; their construction structures are often in the form of tube houses and high-rise buildings, so when a fire occurs, escape and fire fighting will encounter certain difficulties. Many buildings have elevators, ventilation systems, electrical wiring systems, etc., so if there is a fire or explosion, the fire will spread through these systems and easily cause a large-scale fire. Therefore, fire prevention and fighting work at these buildings, especially during the hot season, is always a top priority.
Strengthen inspection and supervision
The peak hot weather period is also the time when Hue City enters the tourist season, causing the demand for accommodation, rest and entertainment of the people to increase. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force of Hue City Police focuses on improving the effectiveness of fire prevention and fighting safety work at hotels, motels, apartment buildings, and service establishments in the area. In particular, focusing on measures such as: Propagating and disseminating knowledge of fire prevention and fighting laws to leaders as well as all employees; regularly training on the use of on-site fire prevention and fighting equipment for grassroots forces...
Mr. Le Quang Binh, General Director of Thanh Lich Hotel Company Limited said: “We always put fire safety and customer safety first; therefore, we regularly conduct fire safety training for employees. At the same time, we organize weekly “Technical Days” to check fire safety equipment and regularly remind and urge employees to raise their vigilance in each meeting.”
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Lau, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police, said: The cause of fires and explosions at hotels, motels, apartment buildings, and service establishments mainly comes from electrical equipment systems and the use of flammable substances. The fire prevention and fighting systems at establishments are not guaranteed in some places and do not receive proper attention from the heads. Fire prevention and fighting work mainly relies on the "4 on-site" motto and the awareness of the owners of establishments, residents, and especially the on-site fire prevention and fighting system. If a fire unfortunately occurs at hotels, motels, or service establishments, not everyone has the skills to handle it and escape.
To ensure fire safety at hotels, motels and service establishments, in addition to the role of the authorities and the responsibilities of the establishments, the awareness of service users is also very important. Owners of establishments need to proactively prepare escape plans; prepare ladders, rope ladders and common demolition tools. At the same time, do not arrange goods and objects to cover or obstruct escape routes; flammable items, goods and materials must be placed at least 0.5m away from sources of fire and heat; regularly check the electrical system and each electrical consuming device. Guests who come to rent, stay and have fun must strictly comply with regulations on ensuring safety against fire and explosion.
“People need to pay attention when a fire occurs in tube houses, the most important thing is to avoid toxic smoke. When smoke has entered the elevator area and cannot escape down, it is necessary to find a way to escape upstairs, especially from the balcony area or stairs leading to the roof, this will be a safe escape route”, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Lau, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police advised.
In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police force handled 549 administrative violations of fire safety; issued 73 decisions to temporarily suspend, suspend operations and 9 decisions to restore operations of facilities. At the same time, it guided local police to organize direct propaganda on fire prevention and fighting and rescue with more than 283,000 participants; sent nearly 248,000 text messages to people and businesses and called to remind and guide 200 heads of facilities at risk of fire and explosion. |
