Previously, at around 12:48 p.m. on October 5, a number of students at Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 2 did not comply with the rules and regulations of the management, causing conflicts and arguments, leading to fighting and disturbances.
Taking advantage of this, some extremist students took the lead and lured other students to fight against the task force, broke the fence and escaped with a total of 314 students.
Immediately after the incident, the Director of the Provincial Police Department and the Deputy Director - Head of the Investigation Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police Department directly went to the scene, mobilized 100% of the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police Department, arranged forces to ensure security and order at the rehabilitation facility and organized the search and mobilization of the escaped students.

Currently, the Provincial Police are continuing to deploy forces to review, verify, collect relevant information, focus on implementing professional measures; organize patrols, blockades, control people and vehicles participating in traffic to track down and mobilize the remaining students.
At the same time, coordinate with local departments, branches and organizations to step up propaganda and mobilize people not to cover up or harbor; organizations and individuals providing transportation services not to accept hire, assist and denounce when discovering runaway students.
