The 2024-2025 Hai Ba Trung District's Grade 9 gifted student selection exam took place on October 29th, with the participation of 698 students from 18 public and private secondary schools in the area.

Students took the exam in 9 subjects: Literature, Mathematics, History and Geography, Civic Education , Natural Sciences, Informatics, English, French, and Japanese. Of these, 78 students took the Mathematics exam.

Immediately after the exam ended, there were reports that the math exam had been leaked because the exam for gifted students in Hai Ba Trung district was similar to the review questions used by students in another district.

Regarding this matter, the head of the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Education and Training stated that immediately after receiving the information, the unit promptly summoned responsible members to investigate and verify the matter.

"The review and verification results show that the process of constructing the district-level gifted student exam questions for 9th grade cultural subjects in the 2024-2025 school year, in general subjects and Mathematics in particular, was carried out in accordance with regulations; there was no leak of exam questions; and no individual or department was found to have leaked information about the exam questions," said a leader of the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Education and Training.

Strict action will be taken if any violations occur.

Regarding the process of creating exam questions for the 9th-grade gifted student competition, the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Education and Training stated that it invited expert teachers from educational institutions outside the district to assist in creating exam questions by subject, according to the exam matrix and the curriculum scope developed by the Department. The unit also invited experts and key teachers to collaborate in reviewing the exam questions to ensure accuracy and compliance with the requirements of a gifted student competition exam.

The teachers invited to create the math exam questions are from other districts and do not directly teach review classes in Hai Ba Trung District. In addition to creating the questions, these teachers also assist the Department in developing the review program when forming the district team for the city-level competition. This is a practice that the Department of Education and Training has been implementing for many years.

According to the planned schedule, the results of the 9th grade district-level gifted student competition will be announced on November 11th.

"To ensure objectivity, fairness, and seriousness in the exam, the Department of Education and Training continues to gather information, verify the incident, and strengthen inspection and supervision of the grading process as well as other stages to ensure compliance with the exam regulations. If any errors are detected, the unit will handle them seriously, in accordance with regulations, and ensure the best interests of the students participating in the exam," the Hai Ba Trung District Department of Education and Training stated.
