Recently, many parents whose children are studying at the Mo Duc Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center (VETC) 2 in Quang Ngai province have continuously reported and expressed their concerns about the unsafe facilities here.

According to the reporter's investigation, Mo Duc Continuing Education Center currently has two campuses with about 20 classrooms, serving 647 students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Of which, the main campus is located in Mo Duc commune, while campus 2 is located in Long Phung commune. Campus 2 alone has 4 classrooms, 2 built in 1995 and 2 built in 2019.

After 30 years of use, two classrooms built 30 years ago have shown signs of damage and serious degradation, with a very high risk of collapse.

There are many long cracks on the pillars of the classroom porch, with rust showing. Many places are peeling so badly that the school had to use temporary cement to cover them.

Some classroom windows have broken hinges, some classrooms have only one window left.

The roof is covered with tiles and has appeared to be broken and looks very dangerous.

A teacher working at the second facility said that the temporary plastering and patching on the walls was done by the unit itself as a temporary repair because there was no funding for large-scale repairs. During the rainy season, teaching and learning encountered many difficulties. Students studied while living in fear.

Mr. Nguyen Ke Hau - Director of Mo Duc Continuing Education Center said that there was a plan to transfer students from the second campus to the main campus, but parents objected because many of the students' homes were too far away.

“Maintaining degraded classrooms not only affects the quality of teaching but also poses a potential safety risk, especially during the rainy and stormy season. We are stopping the arrangement of more than 80 grade 10 students to study in two classrooms built 30 years ago and letting them study in two classrooms built in 2019 to ensure safety,” said Mr. Hau.
