Parents make a "human bridge" and blindfolded students walk across it.

According to Chinese media, this activity was held at Zhongmou New Area No. 3 High School, Zhengzhou City ( Henan Province). In the video that went viral on October 6, many parents knelt in rows in the middle of the schoolyard, blindfolded students, under the guidance of teachers and friends, took turns walking over their parents' backs. All around, touching background music and voices chanted, "Go! Just go!"

A witness said that after removing her blindfold, a female student burst into tears when she realized that the people kneeling on the ground were her parents.

This image quickly went viral. Many netizens called it “sin education ”, saying that this form of education is offensive, not suitable for the school environment and can cause psychological damage to both students and parents.

School apologizes, education authorities intervene

In response to the wave of criticism, Trung Mau New Area High School No. 3 issued an announcement explaining: The above activity was a “gratitude education program” organized by some 10th grade classes, with the consent of parents. However, due to “lack of consideration in the organization, leading to inappropriate and misleading forms of expression”, the school apologized to parents, students and the public.

According to Ettoday , a representative of the Trung Mau District Education Department also confirmed that they had received feedback from students and were investigating. “We believe that this form of organization is inappropriate. The authorities are currently clarifying the matter,” this person said.

Controversy surrounding the idea of “gratitude education”

Many people believe that the above activity is to help students realize the gratitude of their parents - a goal with positive meaning. However, the way of expressing it by having parents kneel and students step over their backs is considered offensive, even violating ethical standards.

Some former students revealed that similar activities had been held before, but that time it was the students who lay on the ground, not their parents. “This time it was reversed, making the image even more unacceptable,” one person commented.

Meanwhile, there are also opinions that although the form is incorrect, the moment the girl burst into tears when she realized her parents were kneeling for her to walk shows that the activity had a strong emotional impact, evoking reflection on family love and gratitude.

The incident is being verified and handled by local education authorities.
