Immediately after the end of the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, people in Phu Luong district focused on planting spring crops in the fields.

This spring, Phu Luong district aims to cultivate over 2,700 hectares of grain crops. Of this, rice cultivation is planned for over 2,300 hectares. The district encourages farmers to use high-yield, high-quality rice varieties to increase production value; expand the area planted with high-quality, specialty rice varieties, and apply VietGAP and organic standards, striving to achieve over 54.5% of the total cultivated area in the district. The main rice varieties encouraged for production include: L8H-GS9, TH3-5, B-TE1, Syn98, TEJ yellow, and MHC2. Purebred rice varieties include: J02, Dai Thom 8, TBR225, DQ11, ADI28, HD11, Thien Uu 8, Huong Thuan 8, and Huong Thom No. 7.
For the spring corn crop, the district plans to plant 433 hectares. The main corn varieties encouraged for production include HN88, NK4300, NK7328, LVN61, LVN99, CP111, NK4300Bt/GT, NK7328Bt/GT, NK66Bt/GT, NK6275, and DK9955S. Phu Luong district also encourages expanding the area of high -economic- value glutinous corn and sweet corn varieties with good market demand.
Currently, most of the low-lying, floodplain, and elevated rice paddies with limited water resources have been planted with spring corn. For early-prepared seedlings, farmers have already begun sowing and transplanting. Phu Luong district aims to complete spring planting by February 2024.
