The wives of the leaders of Vietnam and the Philippines enjoy flowers, tea and interact with people in Hanoi's Old Quarter.

Mrs. Phan Thi Thanh Tam, wife ofPresident Vo Van Thuong, and Mrs. Liza Araneta Marcos, wife of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., took a walk together in Hanoi's Old Quarter today.

This is part of the state visit of President Marcos Jr. and his wife to Vietnam on January 29-30.

The two ladies strolled through the stalls selling Tet decorations on Hang Ma Street.

The wife of the President of Vietnam and the wife of the President of the Philippines visited the flower market and chose peach branches on Hang Luoc Street.

Hang Luoc flower market is a traditional flower market that only opens once a year on the occasion of Lunar New Year. The flower market is spread over 4 streets: Hang Luoc, Hang Ma, Hang Khoai, Hang Ruoi. Going to Hang Luoc market to buy and see flowers is a long-standing cultural feature of the capital's people.

Liza Marcos, whose full name is Marie Louise Araneta Marcos, is a lawyer and academic who has taught at several universities in the Philippines. She served as a top strategist in Marcos Jr.’s election campaign and is considered a key figure in the current Philippine cabinet.
