In the process of building new rural areas and developing the local economy , women in Than Khe commune increasingly demonstrate their role as a core force, boldly seeking start-up opportunities, gradually affirming their position in rural economic development.

Successful start-up from sewing profession
Dare to think, dare to do, overcome difficulties to find opportunities to escape poverty, rise up to become rich thanks to her hands and brain - that is the journey of Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Thong Nhat village when starting a sewing business. Visiting Ms. Thuy's sewing workshop, we truly admired the dynamism and determination of the young woman. Although she was busy instructing workers, she was still enthusiastic and happy to chat: Starting from having a profession in hand and realizing that in the locality, most women have to work far away, some are not old enough to work at the enterprise and still face many difficulties, I discussed with my husband to invest in opening a workshop right in the locality and at the same time learn and connect with companies to receive raw materials for production.
At the beginning of the establishment, in addition to the family savings and support from relatives, I also borrowed more than 100 million VND from the Women's Union of the commune as a guarantee with banks to invest in opening a factory and purchasing machinery.
There were times when there was a lack of capital, workers did not have much experience using sewing machines, products did not meet technical and aesthetic requirements so they were returned by partners, it was extremely difficult... But I was not discouraged, I consulted and learned experience and techniques from long-standing establishments, from there I went back to give detailed instructions to each worker in the factory to improve skills and product quality.
With the viewpoint of "learning from experience while working, correcting mistakes", from defective and poor quality batches, thanks to her enthusiastic guidance, the products produced by the sisters are guaranteed in design and quality. Currently, her sewing workshop is creating regular jobs for 30-40 workers with an income of 5 to 10 million VND/person/month. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha said: I have been working at Ms. Thuy's workshop for nearly 2 years, with a monthly income of over 8 million VND. Thanks to Ms. Thuy, we have jobs right in the locality, not far from home. I hope the workshop will develop more and more so that we can have jobs and increase our income.
Currently, the factory produces nearly 10,000 products per month. In addition to maintaining previous orders, Ms. Thuy also actively changes products such as jackets, fashion clothes, jeans... At peak times such as holidays and Tet, when there are many orders, she has to mobilize additional satellite workers. The work is growing more and more, the factory's annual revenue reaches over 2 billion VND.

Teddy bear processing model creates livelihoods for the disadvantaged
Than Khe commune also has many creative production models, suitable for local working conditions, owned by women. A typical example is the teddy bear processing model of Ms. Tran Thi Hien, Kenh village.
Previously, Ms. Hien pursued the traditional embroidery profession, however, due to high technical requirements, complicated goods transportation, and difficult-to-sell products, in 2021, Ms. Hien boldly invested in opening a workshop specializing in processing teddy bears and producing teddy bear bags. Although the job does not require high technical skills, it requires meticulousness and carefulness, which is very suitable for the local workforce, especially the elderly and the disabled. Ms. Hien shared: At first, I was also worried because I had no experience, but after visiting a number of production facilities and being supported in connecting raw material sources, I realized that this was a direction suitable for local conditions, so I believe that I have chosen the right direction. In the coming time, I will continue to research and study more suitable product lines, and proactively cooperate with partners to expand output, ensuring a stable and long-term source of goods.
Every month, Ms. Hien's workshop produces more than 100,000 products, creating jobs for over 25 regular workers, with an income of 5 to 7 million VND/person/month. This is a relatively stable source of income, helping many families in difficult circumstances improve their lives. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Kenh village, expressed: "In the past, I faced many difficulties because of my old age and could not work far away, but since I was accepted to work at Ms. Hien's workshop, every month I have a steady income, enough to cover my living expenses and no longer be a burden to my children and grandchildren." Ms. Tran Thi Hien deserves to be a shining example in the women's entrepreneurship movement in Than Khe commune.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Than Khe commune, said: Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy and Ms. Tran Thi Hien are just two of many outstanding women of the commune who have been striving to develop the economy. In the coming time, the Women's Union of Than Khe commune will continue to promote activities to support women in starting businesses, developing the economy associated with building new rural areas; focusing on organizing training courses, transferring techniques, improving production management and business skills for members.
