The 2nd Phu Yen Provincial Cultural Family Karaoke Contest - 2023, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attracted many families from across the province to participate and cheer.

The amateur singing and dancing of the families conveyed emotions to the listeners, creating an atmosphere of community bonding.

 

Sing with all your heart.

 

At the competition, nine exemplary cultural families, representing nine districts, towns, and cities in the province, each performed a duet (of their choice) and a solo (mandatory) with lyrics praising the Party, the beloved President Ho Chi Minh, family, love for their homeland, and romantic feelings. These amateur singers brought a variety of artistic colors, joy, optimism, excitement, and friendliness to the competition stage through their songs.

 

After many years working in the cultural sector, Mr. Nguyen Phung Ket (Song Cau Town) is now retired but still has a burning passion for music . Through their songs, Mr. Nguyen Phung Ket and his wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Hue, have conveyed many thoughts and feelings, as well as words of encouragement, urging people to live and pursue their dreams and aspirations through the song "Aspiration" by composer Pham Minh Tuan: "And why not be the wind…/ And why not be the alluvial soil…/ Why not be a song…/ Why not be the sun…/ And why not be a storm, a tempest, a fire on a winter night…/ And why not be a seed…/ Why not be a flock of birds…/ Why not be the sun sowing carefree seeds of sunshine…"

 

Mr. Ket confided: "Participating in the competition made me feel happy and excited. Not only did I get to sing, but it was also an opportunity for us to share experiences in caring for our families, raising our children and grandchildren, and to encourage each other to live more optimistically, joyfully, and exemplarily in life..."

 

"He's at the border where the Red River flows into Vietnam / Up there, this season, the water is calm, the silt reflecting on both banks / He's at the border, knowing that you've been waiting for him year after year / Every evening he goes to the river to fetch water / So every day, with his friends at the outpost / He goes down to the Red River to fulfill your longing..." With their clear, expressive voices, singing the song "Sending You at the End of the Red River" by composer Thuan Yen, the couple So Y Luu and So Thi Ly (Son Hoa district) made a strong impression on the audience.

 

Ms. Ly shared: “Everyday life is full of worries and anxieties. But for me, those worries and concerns disappear whenever family members sing together. Therefore, the competition is an opportunity for us to showcase our singing talents and passions, and to become more optimistic and closer to each other.”

 

With heartfelt performances, the members of each team presented outstanding acts, showcasing diverse musical tastes. Besides their sweet and expressive voices, some performances also featured meticulous preparation in terms of props and choreography. At the end of their performances, many teams enthusiastically cheered for their opponents, filling the stage with applause.

 

Having watched the competition from beginning to end, audience member Doan Xuan Huyen shared: “I saw many families singing with all their hearts and love for music. Their natural and relaxed demeanor helped them fully express each song and convey emotions to the listeners.”

 

Developing the cultural and artistic movement

 

Jury member Huynh Tu Nhan, Deputy Director in charge of the Sao Bien Folk Music and Dance Theatre, commented: “The competition was lively, joyful, and friendly among the 9 families. The participating teams invested considerable effort and seriousness in all aspects, contributing to the success of the competition.”

 

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 2nd Phu Yen Provincial Cultural Family Karaoke Contest - 2023 is an activity aimed at maintaining and developing the cultural and artistic movement in the province, creating a practical, healthy and beneficial playground for cultural families in celebration of the 22nd anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day. This is also an opportunity for families to meet, interact, exchange experiences, and learn from each other, thereby fostering community cohesion in building increasingly high-quality and sustainable cultural families.

 

“Through this competition, I hope that all levels, sectors, social organizations, and people of all walks of life will continue to further develop their strengths to successfully achieve the goal of building Vietnamese families that are “prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy” and developing sustainably; proactively adapting to the challenges and changes of society in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country. In particular, the teams selected to participate in this competition are the core force, the positive factors in disseminating and mobilizing people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws on family affairs and the movement of national unity in building a cultured life,” Ms. Thai emphasized.

Through this competition, I hope that all levels, sectors, social organizations, and people of all walks of life will continue to further develop their strengths to successfully achieve the goal of building Vietnamese families that are "prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy" and developing sustainably; proactively adapting to the challenges and changes of society in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country...
