Following the policy of merging two-level local governments for many months, early in the morning, Ms. H'Blon Nie Krieng (a prestigious person among the Ede ethnic group) went to the commune Party Committee headquarters early in the morning to witness the historic moment of the locality.
Ms. H'Blon expressed: "Previously, there were administrative procedures, when we went to work, we had to go through the commune level, then to the town, having to travel to many places took a lot of time. The commune level is the level closest to the people, grasping the people's information the fastest to resolve problems. Therefore, after the merger, the commune level will have more advantages and powers to resolve problems quickly and promptly. Besides, we hope that, after the merger, the material and spiritual life of the people of Ea Drong, especially ethnic minorities, will be increasingly cared for and supported."
Mr. Nong Thanh Cuoi (Nung ethnic group, village 1B), who traveled more than 15km from village 1B of the old Ea Sien commune to the new Ea Drong commune Party Committee headquarters, shared: “I am very happy and excited to attend the online conference announcing the merger of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces as well as the merger of Ea Sien and Ea Drong communes into the new Ea Drong commune. The implementation of a two-level local government may cause some initial inconveniences due to changes in habits; the travel distance is longer, but in return, our people see the long-term benefits, so everyone agrees and supports. Another important thing is that each locality has a different traditional culture and strengths. When combined, they will increase value and complement each other to develop the locality together.”
Ea Drong commune was established under Resolution No. 1660/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated June 16, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Dak Lak province in 2025, on the basis of the entire natural area and population size of Ea Sien commune and Ea Drong commune, Buon Ho town.

Determining the organization and operation of a two-level local government is a revolution with many difficulties and challenges such as a wider scope and management objects, and more complex nature, but it will create new space and development momentum for the locality.
Therefore, the locality has been rapidly transforming from a passive to a creative state, proactively resolving administrative issues, problems, and complaints of the people and businesses.
