Chieng Ken moved more than 300 people to avoid the circulation of storm number 11.

According to the leader of Chieng Ken commune, the move will be completed by October 6 at the latest.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Chieng Ken commune has issued a document informing the villages and hamlets about the emergency situation in response to the circulation of storm No. 11; reviewing areas at risk of landslides and evacuating people to safety.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Luong Thanh Huong - Secretary of the Chieng Ken Commune Party Committee said: The commune is urgently moving about 70 households with more than 300 people to a safe place to avoid the circulation of storm No. 11. The move will be completed by October 6 at the latest, before the rain and floods.

The commune has established a command post at the commune People's Committee headquarters; established teams in charge of areas at high risk of landslides, assigned officials and civil servants to be in charge of each village; prepared vehicles and machinery such as excavators, bulldozers... ready to handle landslides and traffic jams. At the same time, propaganda has been carried out on mass media, social networks, and zalo groups to warn people.

"We direct the thorough implementation of the "4 on-site" motto, trying to minimize damage to people and property if a natural disaster occurs," said Mr. Luong Thanh Huong.

Although there were no human casualties due to the impact of the recent storm No. 10, Chieng Ken commune suffered a lot of damage to property, crops, houses and some infrastructure works such as roads, bridges, irrigation canals... total estimated damage of more than 9.4 billion VND.
