Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hiep - a wildlife caretaker here said that when wild animals are received by the unit, they are checked, their health is monitored, and they are released into cages for careful care. If they recover their health, especially if they regain their hunting and survival instincts in the natural environment, they will be released back into the wild. The most difficult stage is the initial contact with rare animals when they are rescued or received, because the caretaker must get used to them before they can examine them, give them injections, and feed them.
However, many animals, due to being kept in captivity for too long, cannot regain their natural survival instincts, so the unit continues to raise, care for, and carefully protect them to educate the environment, help tourists and the community better understand biodiversity, as well as avoid hunting and illegal trading of wild animals.

Nearly 200 rare wild animals, including many species listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world, are rescued and preserved at U Minh Thuong National Park.

Sanctuary staff introduce rare animals to visitors.

Tourists recorded images of a giant python, weighing about 100kg, at the wildlife rescue and conservation area of U Minh Thuong National Park.

The core area of U Minh Thuong National Park is over 8,000 hectares wide.

Rare animals in the rescue area are cared for like "baby animals, pampered like eggs".
