Vietnam’s coffee harvest continues to be delayed by heavy rains, floods and landslides that have halted production in many areas. Traders are concerned about the quality of beans as a new storm approaches, adding to market pressure.
Many coffee growing areas have been damaged, with trees falling off their roots or being flooded, making it impossible for farmers to harvest on time. This has raised concerns that domestic and global supplies could fall sharply in the coming time, especially when demand is increasing.
The prolonged adverse weather has severely affected the growing areas in the Central Highlands, right at the crucial stage of the harvest. Although the coffee cherries are ripe, they cannot be harvested because of the continuous rain, and strong winds have even caused the cherries to fall, causing further losses to farmers.
In addition to the difficulties caused by natural disasters, coffee growers also face a shortage of workers. They are forced to take advantage of the rare sunny moments and use family labor to harvest. Purchasing businesses also have to wait for more stable weather before daring to hire workers for harvesting.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market fell sharply on two floors:
Robusta Coffee (London):
Delivery in January 2026: Up 47 USD/ton, to 4,586 USD/ton.
Delivery in March 2026: Up 43 USD/ton, to 4,432 USD/ton.
Arabica Coffee (New York):
Delivery December 2025: Priced at 411.5 cents/lb.
March 2026 delivery: Up 0.65 cent/lb, to 380.35 cent/lb.
The industrial raw materials market saw four of nine commodities temporarily suspended due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, but tight supplies still pushed Robusta coffee prices up nearly 0.6% to $4,539/ton, a notable increase in the context of many markets temporarily trading lull.
In Vietnam, weather has become an important factor supporting coffee prices as heavy rains and floods in the Central Highlands have caused severe damage to growing areas during the peak harvest period. Many areas have lost their roots, making it impossible for people to harvest, raising concerns about supply. As of November 27, only about 30% of the area in Chu Se had been harvested, while Ea H'leo had only reached 25%, much lower than the same period last year.
The production threat has caused coffee inventories on international exchanges to continue to fall. Robusta stocks at ICE have fallen to a six-month low of 4,738 lots, while Arabica stocks have fallen to 398,645 bags – the lowest in nearly a year and a half. The inventory decline has further reinforced the bullish momentum in the market.
In addition, the European Parliament has agreed to postpone the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by one year, until 30 December 2026. Member states and the EU are continuing discussions to finalize the regulation, giving farmers and businesses more time to prepare and adapt.
