On the morning of July 24, at the National Funeral House (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi), the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held the funeral of former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh, according to the State funeral ceremony.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong; former Presidents Tran Duc Luong, Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang; former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and many other leaders and former leaders of the Party and State sent wreaths to pay their respects to former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh.

The delegation of the Party Central Committee led by Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai visited former Party Central Committee Secretary, former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh and expressed condolences to his family.

Former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Sinh Hung; former Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; Party Central Committee Secretary and Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Minh Hung... joined the delegation.

The National Assembly delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; the State President delegation led by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; the Government delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front delegation led by Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien, visited former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh and expressed condolences to his family.

Former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh wrote in the condolence book: “Comrade Nguyen Khanh was a high-ranking official with prestige and a spirit of innovation. With a scientific, disciplined and orderly working style; living an exemplary, simple and humble life, he was always loved and respected by everyone. During nearly 80 years in the Party, in various fields of work and leadership positions, he had many outstanding contributions and achievements to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation...!"

Expressing his deepest condolences, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh wrote: “Deeply mourning comrade Nguyen Khanh, a loyal soldier of the Party, State and People; a close, intimate, devoted and thoughtful comrade and teammate of comrades and teammates through the ages; a loving, thoughtful and devoted grandfather, father and husband of family and friends... The Government sends its deepest condolences to the family and to this irreplaceable loss. Following the example of comrade Nguyen Khanh, we vow to live, fight, work and train according to the ideology, style and morality of the great President Ho Chi Minh! For the goal of a rich people, a strong country, a democratic, equitable and civilized society!”

In an emotional voice, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue wrote in the condolence book: “Deeply mourning comrade Nguyen Khanh, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister, former National Assembly delegate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. With nearly 80 years of revolutionary activities, comrade Nguyen Khanh was an exemplary model of intelligence, responsibility, closeness and sincerity...”

Writing in the condolence book, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee Truong Thi Mai expressed: "Deeply mourning comrade Nguyen Khanh, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister. He always devoted himself to the Party, to the country, to the cause of education - training, health care, social security, making great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the development of the country, for the people; was an exemplary model of morality, simple lifestyle, frankness, sincerity...".

Farewell to former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan wrote: “Deeply mourning comrade Nguyen Khanh, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister - an exemplary, devoted leader who served the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation all his life. Respectfully bow to bid him farewell. My sincere condolences to his family!”

On the morning of July 24, delegations from the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; Central Public Security Party Committee, Ministry of Public Security; Central Party Office; Office of the President; Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; central and local ministries, departments, branches, international organizations... visited former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh and expressed condolences to his family.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh (birth name Nguyen Ngoc Khanh) was born on March 31, 1928; hometown is Ha Hoi commune, Thuong Tin district, Ha Tay province (now Hanoi). He participated in the August 1945 revolution; joined the Party on February 20, 1947.

He was an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party, term V, member of the Central Committee of the Party, term VI, VII; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, term VI; Deputy Prime Minister; Head of the Central Office of the Party; National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX, X.

During nearly 80 years of revolutionary activities, former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State, the 75-year Party membership badge, and many other noble medals and orders.

The memorial service for former Party Central Committee Secretary and former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh was held at 10:15 a.m., followed by the funeral and cremation ceremony at Hoan Vu Crematorium, Van Dien, Hanoi. The burial ceremony was held at 3 p.m. the same day at his hometown cemetery in Ha Hoi commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi.
