On the final day of the Hanoi Open Pool 2025 at My Dinh Sports Palace (Hanoi), Pijus Labutis (Lithuania) and Moritz Neuhausen (Germany) gave the audience an eye-catching match.
Pijus Labutis opened the scoring. Moritz Neuhausen leveled the score 1-1 in the second set and won two consecutive points to take the lead 3-1.
In the fifth and sixth games, Labutis turned the game around and won two points to tie the score at 3-3.
For the next hour, the two players fought for each point, until the score was 4-4, Labutis with stable performance made a sprint to win 6 consecutive points, leading Neuhausen to 10-5.
Despite being behind, Neuhausen tried to appear unfazed. The 2002-born player took advantage of his serve-clearing opportunities to narrow the gap to 7-10. However, that was all Neuhausen could do.
Because in the next three games, Pijus Labutis won continuously to win the final 13-7.
Thanks to that, the Lithuanian player became the new king of Hanoi Open 2025 and won the first Major title of his career.
Throughout the tournament, Labutis maintained an unbeaten streak, defeating many strong players, including two Major winners, Carlo Biado and Robbie Capito.
With the Hanoi Open Pool 2025 championship, Pijus Labutis received a prize worth 40,000 USD. Runner-up Moritz Neuhausen received 16,000 USD.
