Qatar promotes comprehensive US-Iran reconciliation.

On June 1st, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, reaffirming support for reconciliation efforts between the United States and Iran.

According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the two sides discussed Pakistan's mediating role in the reconciliation process between the US and Iran. In addition, the situation in Lebanon was also among the topics discussed.

During the phone call, Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar's full support for initiatives aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement to resolve the current crisis. The Qatari leader stated that all parties involved need to engage in good faith in reconciliation efforts to lay the foundation for lasting peace and regional stability.

The Qatari Prime Minister emphasized that freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle that must be guaranteed under all circumstances. He warned that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using this shipping lane as a tool for political pressure would only complicate the situation further.

According to Al Thani, any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could harm the vital interests of countries in the region, while also exacerbating economic and security consequences.

Qatar also continued to emphasize the importance of diplomatic solutions in addressing current challenges. The head of government stated that dialogue is the most effective way to prevent the escalation of tensions and avoid developments that could destabilize the region.

The phone call took place as many countries are working to promote reconciliation between Washington and Tehran. Recent tensions in the Gulf have raised concerns about maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important energy shipping route for the global economy.
