Once a highly regarded singer, Quach Thanh Danh's career was almost ruined by a scandal involving his low-rise pants showing off his underwear. This fashion style is actually quite normal nowadays, but in Quach Thanh Danh's time 20 years ago, it was considered offensive.
To be fair, Quach Thanh Danh's dusty fashion style at that time imitated street fashion in Europe and America. However, with the pure Asian culture of Vietnam, the image of Quach Thanh Danh wearing clothes that "revealed" his underwear on the poster promoting the new product became offensive and unacceptable to the audience at that time.
Immediately, Quach Thanh Danh became the target of criticism from the audience and the media. From a promising singer, Quach Thanh Danh's singing career gradually faded and then the audience no longer saw Quach Thanh Danh. That was the time he decided to settle down in the US.
Participating in the program "Knock on the door to visit home" - Quach Thanh Danh said he returned to Vietnam after many years living in the US.
Not long ago, Quach Thanh Danh returned to Vietnam to live and bought a villa of over a thousand square meters in the suburbs. The singer's majestic villa has a swimming pool, a large garden, a miniature landscape, a fish pond, and lush green grass.
Quach Thanh Danh revealed: "I chose a quiet, deserted area to build a villa, not in Saigon. The total area of the land where I built the villa is 1,200 square meters. I bought this land a long time ago but left it empty. When I first returned to the country, I planned to live in a house in District 9, but I found it a bit cramped, so I moved here. I like raising fish and birds, so I need a large space. There is also a yard for my children to play here."
Currently, Quach Thanh Danh and his wife live in this villa with their 4 children.
He returned to Vietnam after a long time living in the US.
Quach Thanh Danh confided about his career: "When I first started singing, I used the name Van Thanh Tung. When I joined the management company, they forced me to change my name. I refused and resisted fiercely, but the company still forced me to change it, otherwise they wouldn't let me work. Finally, the company director changed my name to Quach Thanh Danh. At first, I was a bit upset because my name was already beautiful, and they suddenly forced me to change it to a haughty name. I didn't expect that name to be attached to me like a destiny, until now. Right after changing my name, the company released the album 'I Am Me' and I immediately became famous.
So the name Quach Thanh Danh has been associated with me ever since. That was also the time when I had the hardest time, performing everywhere, only coming home once every month and a half. At that time, there was no bank transfer, so every time I performed, I received cash, put it in a sack, and carried it on the car, traveling day after day, month after month. When I got home, I would take out the money for the company to count...".
Singing used to give him a lot of money.
When he started his career, Quach Thanh Danh did not receive support from his family, so when an incident happened: "My parents also blamed me, saying: 'See, this is the reason why we don't want you to pursue this career'. Even though they were sad, they still encouraged me because they were afraid that I would be psychologically affected" - Quach Thanh Danh shared.
Quach Thanh Danh said that living abroad has changed him a lot. In Vietnam, the male singer used to have 5 maids, but in a foreign country, he described himself as working as 5 of them combined.
"From the garden to the electricity and water, doors and windows, I have to do everything myself. It's very difficult to hire workers there, partly because the prices are high, and partly because if something breaks, they just throw it away because the cost to repair it is as much as buying a new one, unlike in Vietnam where you replace whatever is broken" - Quach Thanh Danh informed.

The male singer always believes that life is about "gains and losses", what matters is what you choose. For Quach Thanh Danh, he accepted to give up his career in Vietnam to go abroad with his family and children.
"At this age, I think I should return to my family to have a complete home with my children and happiness with my wife. I consider my relationships outside of society as a thing of the past," the male guest of the show confided.
