On July 24, the army conducted 6 flights, bringing about 18 tons of relief goods to people isolated by floodwaters in Nghe An.

According to information from the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, on July 24, following the direction of the Ministry of National Defense , the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army sent a working group to provide relief to areas isolated by floodwaters in Nghe An.

The working group led by Colonel Tran The Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief, coordinated with the General Staff, Military Region 4, Air Defense - Air Force, and Army Corps 18 to organize 6 relief flights to deliver food (3 flights to Tuong Duong commune; 1 flight to Ky Son commune; 1 flight to My Ly and Nhon Mai communes; 1 flight to Con Cuong commune). The total amount of relief goods transported was about 18 tons.

According to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces alone, floods caused by storm No. 3 have killed 3 people, left 2 missing; collapsed 122 houses ( Nghe An ), blew off the roofs of 539 houses (Thanh Hoa 122 houses, Nghe An 417 houses); landslides at 29 traffic points (Thanh Hoa 13 points, Nghe An 16); landslides at 62 slopes; landslides at 3 dike routes (Thanh Hoa); flooded and damaged 21,802 hectares (Thanh Hoa 19,391 hectares, Nghe An 2,411 hectares); broken and fallen industrial trees on 293.8 hectares ( Nghe An ).

The Military Region 4 Command mobilized 9,293 officers and soldiers; 91 cars and 66 ships and boats of all kinds to overcome the consequences.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, natural disasters in 2024 killed or left missing 519 people, more than 3 times higher than in 2023 and 2.5 times higher than the 10-year average of the period 2014 - 2023; caused particularly large economic damage of about 91,622 billion VND, more than 9.8 times higher than in 2023 and 4.3 times the 10-year average of 2014 - 2023.

In the first 7 months of this year, although it is not yet the rainy and stormy season, natural disasters have occurred across the country, causing 114 deaths and missing people; economic damage of more than 553 billion VND.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep said that in the last months of this year, natural disasters have been very complicated and unpredictable.

During July - September, the North, North Central and Central Highlands regions experience many heavy rains. Heavy rains in the Central region are concentrated from October - December, coinciding with the storm season and tropical depressions, so be prepared for the risk of flooding on top of flooding and widespread inundation.
