Promoting Vietnam's dynamic and highly "open" innovative startup ecosystem

The international TECHFEST in Melbourne, Australia was held on the afternoon of September 20 at Monash University, with the participation of Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat; Minister of Trade and Investment, Victoria State, Australia; Vietnam Science and Technology Representative Office in Canberra and more than 100 experts, investors, investment funds, and prestigious startup support organizations from the two countries.

At this event, a number of innovative startups that have achieved high results in the Startup Talent Search Competition within the framework of the national TECHFEST will have the opportunity to present (pitch) to Australian venture capital funds such as: Magic Edutech Group PTY LTD, Cyberkid, VSEC, Hana Gold, Treeotek…. In addition, innovative startup management agencies, units operating startup support programs and many supporting organizations will have the opportunity to exchange experiences to improve the quality of these activities, while creating a favorable international connection environment for innovative startups of the two countries.

The international TECHFEST in Australia was held on the occasion of the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, led by Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, participating in the Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2023 (GEC).

GEC is an event organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network, bringing together thousands of delegates and senior leaders from more than 170 countries to connect, learn and share experiences, thereby creating a unified and strong global innovation and startup ecosystem.

From these two important events, the Ministry of Science and Technology wishes to introduce the dynamic and highly “open” Vietnamese innovation and startup ecosystem to attract international attention and resources, in which overseas Vietnamese are an extremely important element. Vietnam is ready to participate responsibly to bring innovative solutions to solve economic , social and sustainable development problems in countries around the world and encourage international experts and businesses to develop markets and coordinate with domestic businesses to solve problems in Vietnam.

Since 2019, organizing international TECHFEST in countries with developed innovation ecosystems has been an important direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology with the goal of promoting the ecosystem and Vietnamese innovative startups to the world , while attracting financial resources and experts from investment funds and support organizations of other countries. International TECHFEST has been organized in countries such as the United States, Korea, Singapore, etc. The international TECHFEST event in San Francisco, USA was recognized as one of the 10 outstanding science and technology events in 2019, through which many Vietnamese innovative startups have participated and achieved high results in international competitions.

TECHFEST is the largest annual event series for innovative startups in Vietnam, gathering experts and prestigious startup support organizations at home and abroad to provide orientations for the development of the innovative startup ecosystem. The event is organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with ministries, departments, branches, socio-political organizations and units in the ecosystem.

In 2019, TECHFEST was held internationally in the United States, South Korea and Singapore. In 2023, after the Covid 19 pandemic, the second time was held in South Korea and the international TECHFEST in Australia. The international TECHFEST in Australia is jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Monash University and the Vietnam Science and Technology Representative Office in Canberra, Australia./.
