At the event, Mr. Justin Harris, Director of External Affairs at JIS, stated that as one of the leading international schools in Brunei and the region, JIS is very interested in and supportive of cultural exchange activities with other countries, including Vietnam. At the same time, JIS hopes to further promote connections, training exchanges, and interactions with educational institutions in Vietnam, as well as attract more Vietnamese students to study at the school in the future.
JIS faculty and nearly 30 students from grades 9 to 12 of various nationalities experienced traditional Vietnamese hand embroidery techniques under the guidance of Mrs. Le Thi Hong Ngoan - wife of the Ambassador, Mrs. Maisarah Nguyen - founder of Rattan House handicraft business, and Mrs. Pham Thu Phuong, representative of the Vietnamese community in Brunei.

With the message of promoting traditional crafts while protecting the environment, the materials used at the event were all of natural origin or recycled, including old newspapers, used plastic bottles, dried plants, etc. Ms. Le Thi Hong Ngoan and the guides said that in the future they will continue to explore and discover natural materials in Brunei to incorporate into Vietnamese handicraft products, as well as contribute to cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and Brunei.
The Embassy donated several popular Vietnamese children's literature books translated into English to the JIS school library, such as " Diary of a Cricket" by To Hoai, " I See Yellow Flowers in the Green Grass ," and " Give Me a Ticket to Childhood " by Nguyen Nhat Anh. Ambassador Tran Anh Vu expressed his hope that JIS students and international friends would actively embrace Vietnamese literary works and continue to participate in activities promoting and connecting Vietnamese culture with Brunei and international partners in the future.

At the event, guests and students from JIS enjoyed dishes provided by Yi's Nation restaurant, run by representatives of the Vietnamese community in Brunei, and were introduced to traditional and famous Vietnamese pastries such as sticky rice cakes and durian mooncakes.
Established in 1997, JIS is now among the most prestigious educational institutions in the region. The school has over 1,700 students and faculty members of diverse nationalities, with modern facilities and an advanced curriculum. JIS is ranked among the top 100 private schools in the world and among the top 10 private schools in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the years, JIS faculty and students have participated in several cultural exchange activities with Vietnamese partners.
