Quang Ngai transfers the principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School after the fee collection scandal

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang, Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School, Tu Nghia District, Quang Ngai, was transferred to be Principal of another school. Ms. Dang was previously accused of allowing the collection of a series of fees, which were incorrect and inconsistent with regulations.

On the morning of January 6, 2025, the leader of Tu Nghia District People's Committee confirmed with Dan Viet reporter that he had signed a decision to transfer Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang, Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School, to become Principal of another primary school in the same district.

It is known that during her work and management at Nghia Thuan Primary School, Ms. Dang was continuously denounced by parents to the district authorities and the press, with the content that she allowed the collection of a series of fees, which were incorrect and inconsistent with regulations.

Specifically, in mid-2023, in a complaint sent to the leaders and authorities of Tu Nghia district, Ms. PTBT, a parent of Nghia Thuan Primary School, reported that in her position as Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang directed and illegally collected a series of fees, with a total amount of hundreds of millions of VND.

Ms. PTBT said that Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang's direction and collection of money was incorrect, not in accordance with regulations, and lasted for 4 school years (2019 - 2020; 2020 - 2021; 2021 - 2022 and 2022 - 2023).

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district has directed relevant departments and agencies to work with the Board of Directors and Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School to clarify the content of the parents' accusation.

Through verification and inspection results, Tu Nghia District People's Committee determined that the content of the parents' accusations about incorrect and inappropriate collection fees was correct and true; at the same time, it requested the school to return the incorrect collection fees to the parents.

In mid-December 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang, Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School, continued to receive petitions from parents to the authorities of Tu Nghia district and the press, with the content reflecting that she did not follow the direction of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district.

In the submitted petition, Ms. PTBT, a parent of Nghia Thuan Primary School, stated that according to the conclusion of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia District, Nghia Thuan Primary School must refund to the parents of the students the entire amount of money collected in violation of regulations.

However, it is worth mentioning that although Nghia Thuan Primary School has completed the refund of the wrongly collected money to the parents, for unknown reasons, many parents still have not received the refund, or received any information about the refund from Nghia Thuan Primary School, as well as Principal Nguyen Thi Dang.

On the same morning, speaking with PV Dan Viet , a representative of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district said that they would direct a re-examination of the above reflection content of the PTBT parents.
