Accordingly, at approximately 11:20 AM on the same day, at kilometer 158+500 on the Truong Son Dong road, in the section passing through Son Tay Thuong commune, a mountain suddenly collapsed, burying the house and part of the truck belonging to Mr. Le Quoc Vuong's family, along with dozens of meters of the Truong Son Dong road. The landslide measured approximately 40 meters long, 40 meters wide, and 6 meters high, with an estimated 9,000 cubic meters of soil and rocks falling onto the road. "Mr. Vuong's family specializes in buying, selling, and processing betel nuts. Previously, when heavy rain continued for an extended period, Mr. Vuong's family had been relocated to the Huy Em village cultural center. However, on the morning of the same day, two workers were still carrying out the betel nut drying process there. Before the landslide occurred, residents saw signs of a landslide and shouted for the two workers to run out of the house to safety," said Mr. Pham Hong Khuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tay Thuong commune.
Following the incident, the People's Committee of Son Tay Thuong commune dispatched forces to assist Mr. Vuong's family in moving their remaining belongings to a safe location. Simultaneously, they set up checkpoints and directed vehicles to detour via Provincial Road DT05 to continue their journey.
According to Mr. Khuyen, the Truong Son East road is managed by Road Management Area III, and the unit is currently deploying personnel and equipment to access the landslide site and carry out remedial work.
The Eastern Truong Son Road is approximately 700 km long, starting from Da Nang city, passing through Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak provinces, and ending in Lam Dong province. The Eastern Truong Son Road mostly traverses nature reserves with old-growth forests, historical sites, and revolutionary bases located in the Eastern Truong Son mountain range.
