Quang Tri receives the National Historical Relic Ranking Certificate for Long Dai Ferry Terminal II

On the evening of September 18, at Long Dai Ferry Pier II Historical Site (Truong Ninh Commune), the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province coordinated with Vietnam Television to organize the program "Gratitude - Fire and Flower River" associated with the Ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the Certificate of ranking Long Dai Ferry Pier II National Historical Site.

Attending the program were Mr. Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee. Also attending were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong, leaders of Quang Tri, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , Hung Yen provinces; leaders of Military Region 4; veterans, relatives of 16 youth volunteers of Company C130 who sacrificed at Long Dai Ferry Terminal II and a large number of local people.

According to the Organizing Committee, heroic Quang Tri was the fiercest fire line at one time, marking many historical landmarks such as: Quang Tri Ancient Citadel with 81 days and nights of fire, Hien Luong - Ben Hai banks dividing the country for more than 20 years, Khe Sanh, Doc Mieu, Con Tien... All have become immortal symbols of the indomitable will and spirit of "Determination to die for the Fatherland" of our army and people.

Along with those historical sites, Long Dai Ferry - "where enemy bomb fragments are thicker than gravel" is one of the most fierce "fire coordinates" on the legendary Truong Son route. Located on Route 15, this is not only a simple traffic bridge but also a strategic "throat", "bloodline", deciding the survival of the supply line from the Northern rear to the Southern front, Laos and Cambodia. Therefore, the US imperialists dropped hundreds of tons of bombs and bullets here, turning Long Dai into a "bomb bag", a fierce "fire pan". This place witnessed the shedding of blood and bones, especially the tragic sacrifice of 16 Youth Volunteers of Company C130 (from Thai Binh , now Hung Yen province) in September 1972 when they were on duty to open the road, transport across the river, and maintain the traffic bloodline.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung awarded the certificate of national relic Long Dai Ferry Terminal II - the place where 16 Youth Volunteers sacrificed their lives in September 1972 to Quang Tri province.

Currently, Long Dai Ferry Terminal II is not only a historical relic, but also a vivid testament to the brutality of war, while also marking the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people. The decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to rank the place of sacrifice of 16 Youth Volunteers of Company C130 as a National Historical Relic is an affirmation of the great value of this place in the history of resistance, and at the same time creates a foundation for the relic to become a "red address" for traditional education.

The program "Gratitude - River of Fire and Flowers" and the Ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the Certificate of ranking Long Dai Ferry Terminal II as a National Historical Relic were held as an opportunity to express deep gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who fell for the independence, freedom and unification of the Fatherland; at the same time, spreading the tradition of patriotism and indomitable will of the nation to present and future generations. This is also a meaningful activity, demonstrating the nation's morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking", affirming the eternal value of history, and at the same time contributing to making Quang Tri a cultural - historical - spiritual destination with great appeal to domestic and international tourists.
