Quang Tri: Determined to achieve economic growth of 8% or more in 2025

On the morning of September 10, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a regular meeting to assess the socio-economic situation in August and the first 8 months of 2025. Quang Tri aims for economic growth of 8% or more in 2025, based on positive results in the first 8 months of the year and the determination of the entire political system.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee at the meeting, after more than two months of implementing the two-level local government model, the operating apparatus is basically stable, creating favorable conditions for the province to focus on removing difficulties, promoting production, business and attracting investment.

Economic sectors recorded many positive results: Industry maintained growth momentum; Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project held the first oil firing ceremony for boiler unit 1; La Trong Hydropower project completed construction and installation of main items.

Besides, agricultural production is stable, aquatic products have achieved good output, fishermen actively go offshore to sea.

In the first 8 months of 2025, Quang Tri tourism industry welcomed more than 7.8 million visitors, with total revenue estimated at more than 8,000 billion VND. State budget revenue reached nearly 9,500 billion VND, equivalent to 80% of the estimate, up nearly 28% over the same period in 2024.

In particular, the province has approved investment policies for 145 domestic projects, with a total capital of more than 84,000 billion VND, many times higher than the same period last year. Social security work and care for people's lives are focused on; national defense and security continue to be maintained.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong acknowledged the efforts of all levels and sectors, and requested to continue to resolutely, synchronously, flexibly and effectively implement solutions to ensure the completion of the economic growth target of 8% or more in 2025.

Mr. Tran Phong emphasized the need to focus on removing difficulties for businesses, speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital, especially for key projects. Provincial departments, branches, sectors and units must focus on resolving difficult and key issues, promptly supporting commune-level authorities. Commune, ward and special zone levels must continue to review, remove difficulties, improve organizational apparatus and proactively overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong also assigned specific tasks to relevant departments and branches to speed up the establishment and adjustment of plans, effectively implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII, promote energy and social housing projects, resolve land backlog, ensure facilities for the new school year and attract investment in industrial parks and economic zones.

He requested heads of provincial departments, branches, and sectors and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones to uphold their responsibilities as leaders, strictly implement discipline and administrative order, and resolve work thoroughly and in accordance with legal regulations.

With the synchronous participation of the entire political system, Quang Tri is determined to successfully implement socio-economic development targets in 2025, creating a solid foundation for the next stage.
