Homeland bids farewell to its outstanding son, Tran Duc Luong.

On May 24th, numerous leaders, officials, and people of Quang Ngai province paid their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, expressing their gratitude and respect for this outstanding son of their homeland.

The memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong was solemnly organized by Quang Ngai province at three locations: the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command Hall, the Duc Pho Town Cultural Center Hall, and the Pho Khanh Commune People's Committee Hall (Duc Pho Town), his hometown.

At exactly 8:30 AM on May 24th, delegations from the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; the 5th Military Region Command; the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, Police, and Border Guard; the Quang Nam Provincial leadership delegation; and a large number of people successively paid their respects and offered incense in commemoration of former President Tran Duc Luong.

In the condolence book, Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, wrote: "We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo , former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, a staunch communist soldier who dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese nation, an outstanding son of the heroic Quang Ngai homeland..."

Mr. Pham Dinh Khoi, former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, emotionally shared: "Since hearing the news of Mr. Tran Duc Luong's passing, I have always felt a deep sadness in my heart. Not only me, but many leaders of Quang Ngai province also deeply mourn the loss of an exemplary leader, approachable and dedicated to his homeland."

Mrs. Tran Thi Giang (73 years old, residing in Quang Ngai City) emotionally recalled: "My hometown is in Pho Khanh commune, near Mr. Tran Duc Luong's house. Later, my family moved to Quang Ngai City to live, but my feelings for my hometown and for Mr. Luong have always remained deep." She continued: "When he was still in office, every time he returned to his hometown, Mr. Luong always took the time to visit his neighbors. He was simple, approachable, and not at all distant. Upon hearing the news of his passing, I and many other people came to the Provincial Military Command Hall early in the morning, hoping to light incense and bid farewell to this outstanding son of our homeland."

At the Duc Pho Town Cultural Center, delegations and a large number of local officials and people came to lay wreaths, offer incense, and express their profound respect and sorrow at the passing of former President Tran Duc Luong. The people's feelings for the former President were not only admiration for a high-ranking leader, but also gratitude for a son who always cared deeply for his homeland. During his time in office, former President Tran Duc Luong frequently returned to visit Pho Khanh commune, working with local leaders and always concerned about the socio-economic development of this region.

While working at the Duc Pho District Party Committee Office , Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Diem was one of the fortunate few to meet and listen to the heartfelt advice from former President Tran Duc Luong during his visits to his hometown. "Uncle Ho always reminded young cadres to constantly learn and train themselves to grow. Following his advice, I strived and later was assigned the task of Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Town Party Committee. Hearing of his passing, I am deeply saddened and vow to continue to train and contribute so as not to disappoint him," Ms. Diem said emotionally.

At the People's Committee Hall of Pho Khanh commune, the hometown of former President Tran Duc Luong, in addition to the commune's leaders, there were also a large number of local people and relatives from all over who came to offer incense and pay their respects. Mr. Nguyen Xu, a resident of Dien Truong village (Pho Khanh commune), choked up as he said: "Uncle Luong was a son that our homeland was always proud of. Every time he returned home, he would visit the elderly and give gifts to needy families. He also contributed to helping the locality build many essential projects such as the Dien Truong water reservoir, schools, and electricity. Thanks to that, the lives of the people have improved. Now that he is gone, we are filled with immeasurable sorrow."
