The National Assembly approves 6 deputy prime ministers.

The National Assembly has approved the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2026-2031 term, including Mr. Pham Gia Tuc, General Phan Van Giang, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, and Mr. Le Tien Chau.

According to a press release from the National Assembly Office, on April 8, the National Assembly voted to approve the Prime Minister 's proposal to appoint a Deputy Prime Minister for the 2026-2031 term.

As a result, with 485 delegates participating in the vote (97%), 484 delegates voted in favor (96.30%), and 1 delegate abstained.

The list of Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2031 term includes Mr. Pham Gia Tuc, General Phan Van Giang, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, and Mr. Le Tien Chau.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc was born in 1965 in Ninh Binh province .

He was a member of the Politburo of the 14th Party Congress, Secretary of the Central Committee of the 14th Party Congress, and a member of the Central Committee of the 13th and 14th Party Congresses. He holds a Master's degree in Public Administration.

Mr. Pham Gia Tuc was formerly the Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.

Later, he served as Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission and Secretary of the Nam Dinh (former) Provincial Party Committee.

In November 2024, he was transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of the Central Party Office, and later became Chief of the Central Party Office.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang was born in 1960 in Ninh Binh province and holds a PhD in military science. He is a member of the Politburo of the 13th and 14th Party Congresses, and a member of the Central Committee of the Party for the 12th, 13th, and 14th terms.

Mr. Phan Van Giang had a long career in the military, having served as Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense.

In 2021, he served as Minister of Defence. He was promoted to the rank of General in July 2021.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra was born in 1964 in Nghe An province and holds a Master's degree in Educational Management. She was a Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the 14th term and a member of the Central Committee in the 12th, 13th, and 14th terms.

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra had a long career working in the former Yen Bai province, holding positions such as Chairperson of the People's Committee and Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee.

She then served as Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior, and then Minister of the Ministry of Interior from April 2021. At the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly, she was approved for appointment as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung was born in 1966 in Gia Lai province and holds a master's degree in law. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 13th and 14th terms.

He had a long career and held many positions in the former Binh Dinh province, such as Chairman of the People's Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. Subsequently, he served as Secretary of the new Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

By October 2025, he will hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang was born in 1973 in Hanoi. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 12th (alternate), 13th, and 14th terms.

He worked for many years in the banking sector and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade in 2014.

He then served as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, then Chairman of the People's Committee and Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee. In October 2022, he became Minister of Transport and subsequently Minister of Finance.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau was born in 1969 in Tay Ninh province and holds a doctorate in law. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 13th and 14th terms.

Mr. Le Tien Chau held various positions at the Ministry of Justice before becoming Deputy Minister of Justice in 2016. Subsequently, he served in the former Hau Giang province as Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the People's Committee, and Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee.

Later, he served as Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. From 2023, he served as Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.
