SCMP reported that on March 10, Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn announced the appointment of his 36-year-old daughter Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya as an expert in the Royal Thai Army with the rank of Major General.

The appointment will take effect from April 1. Princess Sirivannavari, the second daughter of King Vajiralongkorn, graduated with a master's degree in design from the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la couture Parisienne in Paris, France. She is currently a fashion designer with her own brand called "Sirivannavari". She is also a former athlete, representing Thailand in badminton at the 2005 Sea Games and winning a gold medal in the team event.

In a recent interview, Princess Siri - as she is commonly known Sirivannavari - asserted that she is a hard-working person and does not just hang around the Royal Palace.

"I have a plan and I want to be a successful designer. I'm a fighter and I want my designs to be in department stores and stores because of the quality of the brand, not because of my title. I also want to show that a princess can work. This is me. I want to work," she declared.

King Vajiralongkorn has seven children. Princess Sirivannavari's older sister is Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati. Bajrakitiyabha, the king's eldest daughter, was hospitalized last December with a heart problem.
